How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThis no joke…. Everything was perfect! A secure location in a great area, all at an incredible price and value. The beach,one minute walk away, was the best beach for miles around, with easy access to walk past all the resorts to the east. Outside of an all-inclusive resort, we would definitely stay there again and have already recommended this place to friends and family.
Nothing to not like. Don’t let the third story concern you as the levels are not very high and it’s a super easy walk up wide steps.

Verified reviewNice quiet property in an excellent ocean front location. Room was well equipped and comfortable, a good value for the money, and the owner was very responsive.
Clearer instruction as to the building location would have been helpful as the buildings are not clearly marked. Also worth noting, this particular unit would not be ideal for anyone with a disability or mobility issues as it is on the 3rd floor only accessible by stairs.

This location is not suitable for individuals with mobility challenges. Parking spots at the unit are frequently occupied.

Bennie your 6/10 score does not make sense. You basically gave me all 10s except for value 5/10. Your headline is “Pleasant” with no complaints. Your communication with me was very poor. I repeatedly reached out to you to make sure things were in order. I understand you are technologically challenged and I understand you didn’t understand BookingsCom policy that all Jamaican properties have to be paid directly to the owner even though you registered your credit card. I believe you erred in your evaluation.

Not so close to shopping - a car is Nice to visit shops or restaurants. There was free parking.

We wanted a later check out but had the maid come at 930am to rush us out. We we not impressed but managed to be gone by 10. Checkout is 11

Verified reviewThe property was well furnished and I liked the sense of security. The grounds are beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had the best time on our second trip to Negril.
Cause I’m old, the climb up to the 3rd floor was a slow climb but I enjoyed the property and will come back to the same place if available.
Thanks for your review. Yes the studio is on the top floor of a 3 story complex. The advantage is the cool winds available by opening window and doors on the top floor.

Verified reviewDr. R. Place was perfect. Well stocked kitchen with everything you will need for your stay. The bed was excellent Strong WiFi with never cut out and TV with streaming services. Many little beaches along the property Would 100% stay again.
The only downfall which has nothing to do with the room is there are no services as groceries or shops. No problem just grab a route taxi to the grocery store or the bar strip.
Glad you enjoyed the room. Shopping Center HILOW is at Boardwalk Village Shopping Center approximately 3 miles away. Lunch is available on property by ordering at strata office in the morning. 10 minute walk to gas station, there is a convenience store. Jam West Restaurant is a 15 min walk on beach.

Verified reviewThe apartment is well equipped, clean and very close to the beach. WiFi is excellent too. You need a car to buy groceries, however a 5 minute walk there is a petrol station that sells some basic items. The owner of the apartment was reachable whenever we needed anything. Will surely return.

Grounds of the complex were immaculate and beautiful. Sea front gorgeous, lagoons,rock.pools and caves to swim in as well as a man-made beach.
Lack of facilities on the complex. No bar, shop or takeaway, also sandwiched between 2 hotels having visible nudist beaches, one of them being Hedonism 2. To far to walk and get provisions, needed to use a taxi.

Accidentally left a bag sitting on the kitchen table chair when I left, about $400.00cd.. Called as soon as I arrived home. Bag was gone, cleaning lady didn't see it. But, The owner assured me he would ask the next guests to look as well.
I am sorry you think you left a bag behind when you left in a rush as your taxi came early. I assure you my housekeeper of ten years and the incoming guests did not see it. I find your review highly unfair and your remarks in the messages prejudicial and offensive. Your rating 1 of 10 does not reflect your statement “room was nice” and your response after your check in when I asked if everything is in order, “Yes. Everything it just fine. Very nice .Thank you.” I understand your frustration at losing your bag but I assure you that it was not stolen by my housekeeper. Please look into your conduct of perhaps excessive partying affecting your ability to recall past events.

Verified reviewUnique location, a different experience than staying at the resort. Nice private beach. Comfortable studio with a fully functioning kitchenette. Very accomodating and responsive host.
Be ready to wake up early in the morning, because it gets noisy from maintenence and construction work all over. Also, plan to check out early (10am), because that’s when cleaning person comes.
