There were a few inconveniences during the stay: there weren’t enough electrical outlets near the bed, the rain shower in the bathroom was not functioning, and the blow dryer was quite small, requiring extra time and patience to use.

It may be quite a distance to travel, but the journey itself is part of the experience, offering views of lush vegetation and beautiful scenery along the way. Upon arrival, the hotel staff were exceptionally friendly, and the food was excellent with a wide variety to choose from. The 24-hour lounge was a great touch, perfect for snacks, light meals, and coffee or tea at any time. Drinks were flavorful, with just the right balance of alcohol and taste. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with a mini bar stocked with a good variety and replenished daily. The TV offered plenty of channels, from Cartoon Network to keep the kids entertained, to BET and other adult-oriented options. What stood out most was the entertainment—there was never a dull moment. From kids’ games and cinema nights to lively events like the RIU White/Neon Party, karaoke, beach parties, and even a silent headphone party, there was always something exciting happening day and night. Overall, it was an experience full of fun, relaxation, and memorable moments.

Decor was a little dated. Food wasn’t as authentically Jamaican as I’d like and there were some rowdy activities by the pool during the day.

The location, the bartenders at the Sun bar Gregory, Thunder, Sandae to name a few was super amazing never a dull second hanging out at the Sun pool bar. The entertainment crew was super especially Akeem.

The rooms were beautifully presented. The food was amazing. The jerk chicken was the best in town. Staff were very helpful and accommodating especially the dinning room staff. Entertainment was great fun from the live bands to the pool activities would definitely recommend.

We found at the restaurants whilst the food is of a higher standard, sometimes what we ordered and what we got weren’t exactly correct.

The beach is lovely. Staff were great and the scuba activities are so worth doing and easily accessible. Kayak, paddle boards and snorkelling trips. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The restaurants are nice and a good addition to the buffet. We initially got given a room on the ground floor which had no privacy as it was facing the buffet and asked to move to utilise the balcony which they accommodated very quickly. Taxi rank on site.

AC was out the entire trip. Staff did not mention it upon complaints and did not offer any solutions I.e fans etc. Room stayed at 77 degrees, hot and muggy. We purchased our own portable fan to try and make our room more comfortable.

I recently stayed at RIU Tropical Resort, and while there were many aspects to love, a few significant issues left me with mixed feelings. The Positives: The location is absolutely stunning – picturesque beachfront views and lush surroundings make this resort a beautiful place to unwind. The food and drinks were outstanding, with a variety of fresh, flavorful options. We also appreciated the abundance of resort activities, from walking the beach, water sports to evening entertainment, ensuring there was always something to do. The Negatives: Unfortunately, a few service and maintenance issues detracted from the experience. The safe in our room stopped working twice, and the patio door latch fell off during our stay. While these issues could happen anywhere, the bigger disappointment was the customer service. For the amount spent on this trip, including generous tips, I didn’t expect to feel like an inconvenience to the staff. When I called the front desk to address these concerns, the response felt dismissive – as if I was bothering them. This lack of attentiveness and professionalism was disheartening and left me feeling undervalued as a guest. Overall Impression: RIU Tropical Resort has incredible potential with its beautiful location and excellent dining. However, management needs to address maintenance issues and focus on improving employee attitudes and customer service. Guests paying premium prices should feel welcomed and respected throughout their stay. Would I return? Possibly – if I hear they’ve made improvements in staff training and responsiveness. Until then, I’d recommend the resort with reservations.

One of the concierge staff, Jameson, went over and above to make us feel comfortable. He was one of the highlights of our stay. The resort staff were also friendly. The buffet also had lots of delicious options. We enjoyed the fruit spread too.

I cannot imagine to go there in a high season - the sun beds were one next to another, so it would be really crowdy on the beach.

All inclusive was ok - great selection for lunch and dinner (fishes, seafood etc.), just deserts were not good. Room was clean, quit and there was a lot of space for 3 people. Staff was always nice and the room has really god equipped fridge (coke, sprite, tonic and alcohol).

The evening staff in the buffet area that was serving the tables were extremely rude and they have no manners. One Server took a very long time to get you something to drink. In the end, I ended up Finishing my meal And had to go back to the room to get something to drink. After Asking for something to drink more than twice.
