How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe place was lovely, full of greenery and very pleasant to stay in. The staff was lovely and the stunning Judy really helped me and I would definitely go back.
The only problem was that my room faced the sun, so I would sometimes wake up from the heat because the fan didn't help, but other than that it was a very good stay

Verified reviewThe hostel is well situated in Negril, close to many restaurants and to the sea and not too far from Seven Mile Beach or the cliffs. We rented bicycles from a shop closeby which allowed us to go around Negril easily. Sue and her team were really nice and quick to answer to our questions. The guesthouse is pretty, with many different places to chill in the garden.
There was a lot of mosquitoes in our cottage by the end of our stay so we had to sleep completely covered under the sheets. A mosquito net and an electric swatter could be a good addition to the equipment because our sprays were not enough (plus it is quite toxic to use that much).

Verified reviewWe had a lovely stay at Judy house. Finally we met other young travellers and we cooked our first meal ourselves here. It was a pleasure chilling at the garden and we loved the honesty bar.
Important: get your mosquito repellent. Once the shower ran out of water, but thank you Sue for all the help and kindness.

Verified reviewIt is really lovely place in Negril. It is bit long walk to centrum or 7 miles beach but location of judys house is safety. Receptionist was nice. Communication with Sue (owner) was with no problems and she also gave us some useful infos. They booked driver Rita for us for our long trip to pelican bar a blue hole. Rita is the best driver on island. I will miss my morning coffee and sunrising view.

Verified reviewThe little board houses are nice and colorful and the kitchens are equipped. Pleasant village atmosphere and friendly staff. It is a very affordable option in a touristic town.
The room is a very narrow board house. One of the walls was a partition with no sound proof and there was a shower on the other side, you could hear everything. Seemed that the cleaning of bathrooms is up to the users. The hostel is situated on a hill, which is far from the main and not convinient at all without a car.

Verified reviewThis is a nice little cottage, especially for 2 days. You can even buy some groceries at the desk at a reasonable price. Teddy the dog was very friendly! Self check in was easy but make sure to read the instructions! Nice quality/price ratio.
The mattress was terrible. I felt every single spring. The rooms are basically wooden cabins so it can get really hot (but fans help) and you hear every noise from outside, especially neighbor’s dogs barking all night. So don’t forget your ear plugs.

The house was connected to other rooms which meant that if someone else would have booked a room in the same house we would have been sharing living space.. which is ridiculous. There were always people in the garden that weren't staying in the house
This review is incorrect and CONFUSES US as your room Star Apple a single budget backpacker room was made clean and ready for you the day before your arrival by our Housekeeper as Saturday when you arrived was her day off. You did not ever give us a time of arrival but Rasta Security Martel made sure he was there for you. He reports no problems and confirmed the 'WE ' you talk about about was just you ALONE in a single room. The Backpacker rooms are 3 rows of double and single budget backpacker rooms. Noone of them are part of a "house" so we are very confused by comments made in your review. "There was always people around that were not staying in the 'house" There is no house ??? ANOTHER CONFUSION Plus we have tight security "A strict NO VISITORS POLICY which means only guests and staff are allowed on Judy House property. It was too dark at night. The property was not well lit. If I had to go to the bathroom at night. Witch was was about 5yrd OUTSIDE my room. It was really creepy and unsafe. Security was not noticeable or easy to find. The wifi was HORRIBLE! The appliances didn't work.
I warned you about the storm, you chose to come anyway and then print your nastiness which is really not fair. Still - Apologies for your experience, as you felt the terrible tropical storm as Jamaicans do. This meant that our utilities, services and staff were suffering too at home and at work if they could travel at all. Totally out of our control. Much work has gone on this week to bring everything back to normal. Please come back another time when we are at full capacity. One Love ... Sue
