Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SingaporeNothing! It was perfect to me
Good breakfast nearby, huge supermarket at the main junction, near the national garden which was beautiful to walk. The owner was extremely sweet and helpful, even loaned us bicycles to get around the city. House was beautiful.

Poland—
Staying at this traditional Japanese ryokan was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. The house is built in classic Japanese style, with wooden architecture and futons for sleeping on the tatami floor — and it offered the most authentic and unforgettable experience we could have hoped for. Everyone visiting Japan should try something like this at least once. The cleanliness of the place was outstanding — not a single speck of dust anywhere. Honestly, the level of care and attention to detail from the host surpasses even that of many five-star hotels. The bathroom was large, with a traditional Japanese shower area, and after our first night, it was cleaned without us even asking. Fresh towels were also brought to us the next day — a thoughtful touch we deeply appreciated. The host was incredibly kind and attentive. At check-in, he told us we could use the bicycles in the garden, which made exploring the area even more enjoyable. On our last day, when it was pouring rain, he offered to drive us to the train station — an act of generosity we will never forget. And during check-out, he made us a cup of tea and even gave us a small gift — a bag of wasabi peas. Such a lovely and warm gesture. If you're planning a trip to Kyoto and want an authentic and peaceful place to stay, this is the best accommodation you could ask for. It was, without a doubt, our favorite stay in all of Japan. Highly recommended!

I spent five nights in this lovely traditional Japanese house with modern facilities. All the little things have shown that host Mr Amiya takes good care of the place. It is a little bit hidden. For going there, take main road Marutamachi-dori after leaving Marutamachi subway station. Don't go through small streets.. I was lost on the second evening, and luckily someone walked me to the house! Kyoto Imperial Park is nearby. Autumn foliage was very beautiful there. There were few people in the morning. It was my second time in Kyoto. Last time was 13 years ago when I stayed at a hotel right across Kyoto Main Station. I prefer Mr Amiya's house - it is a home away from home. I enjoyed my stay very much and would love to be back. Last but not least, it was so kind of Mr Amiya to drive me to Kyoto Main Station for the airport express. We left the house shortly before 5:30am! Besides a warm cup of tea before the early start, he gave me presents (Year of the Snake decoration and coffee). What a nice surprise! A huge thank you to Mr Amiya for his warm hospitality!

ChinaOnly one tiny thing: The lights in the house cannot be easily shut down :D As a dark-walker I found it a little bit annoying when heading to the washing room in the middle night.
The room or I'd rather say the house is very, very clean. It comes with a garden but guests are not allowed to enter it freely which is totally understandable 'cause I think Japaneses value their garden a lot. I like the furnishing and decoration of the house. It's beautiful, and equipped with all kinds of electric devices such as microwave, fridge, washing machine, you name it. On the day of checkout, the host made us tea and guided us to visit the garden, and when we were leaving, the host offered to drive us to the Kyoto station, which is not quite near btw.

UkraineIt was the best hotel during my trip to Japan. At first I was nervous because I am a woman traveling alone. However, the neighborhood of this hotel was safe and I felt safe. I went to Kyoto ONLY for this hotel. I highly recommend this hotel if you want to experience life in a traditional Japanese home. At the end of my stay, host made me tea and took me to the main station in Kyoto.

United KingdomNothing!
Faultless! Cannot compliment this Ryokan enough! The location was great; convenient but still offered a great feel of residential Japan. The host allowed us to drop off our suitcases a few hours before check-in (he even took them upstairs for us!) and showed us how to use the two bicycles if we wanted to take them with us to explore before check-in. He showed us around and explained how everything worked at check-in. The ryokan itself was absolutely gorgeous and everything you could want from a traditional ryokan experience, including local matcha tea which was replenished every day. There was a bedroom and a living room upstairs, complete with tatami matting, sliding screen doors, floor seating and traditional decor, then a second living room, utility room and toilet and bathroom downstairs, all overlooking the beautiful little garden. The condition of the ryokan was immaculate and meticulously clean; the host even cleaned every day whilst we were out. The traditional futon beds were the comfiest beds we’ve ever slept in, the shower and bath were great and lots of high-quality toiletries were provided. There was a kettle and a washer-dryer (which worked wonderfully!). There was a fridge in our room which was really convenient, and the WiFi worked really well also. At the end of our stay, the host offered us tea in the living room whilst he checked to make sure we didn’t forget anything and to settle final payments, then gifted us some coffee made in Kyoto. Couldn’t fault our stay in any way. We will certainly be back!!
