You arrive as a guest and leave as family! The staff is friendly, there is a kitchenette to cook, a central location, close to metro stations, and easy access to public transportation from the airport :-) The place is clean and tidy for affordable prices.

Some stayers were a bit too loud for me. Luggage storage could be improved more by widening the space.

The neighbourhood is really safe. Easy access to stations. Facilities are cleaned all the time. Got to meet some nice people there! I will definitely come back!

I have zero complaints about Akasaka Hive, without question this is the best hostel that I've ever stayed in by FAR and I'd be surprised if anywhere in the world could top the experience that I've had here.

The staff are absolutely amazing! Very welcoming people work at this hostel and will instantly make you feel at home. Don't be shy, they love to give recommendations on places to go and will go above and beyond to make sure your stay in Japan as memorable as possible. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Tokyo as a solo traveler, this is the place to be!

Two things: only one washing machine for the entire hostel of like 40-60 people, and there was this guy in our room who was quite unpleasant to stay with but the staff couldn't do anything about. I suppose that's not their fault, but the guy: played music and talked loudly on his phone into the wee hours of the night, put on so much perfume that it gave multiple people headaches, and argued loudly with the staff over a mistake in his booking. I would definitely stay here again, but I implore the management to be more assertive in implementing their own rules and reining in their guests.

Excellent location, friendly staff, decent social atmosphere in the lounge area if you eat your meals there. What's not to like?

There is no elevator and if you are on the 4th floor.......

711 and many other restaurants and train stations are within a very short walk. This guesthouse also has a small kitchen and common eating area, which is separate from the sleeping area. Smart TV and laundry facilities are available. Each capsule has a valuables locker and each room has a luggage area. Very clean, highly recommended.

It’s my first time in Japan (but not in Asia) and I was shocked by the 4pm check in time. I booked from the night before so that when I arrived I would be able to access the dorms straight away. However, when I arrived there was no one at the reception and my room card wasn’t left in the safety box like mentioned in the booking message. Had to wait around 30 mins before someone came. Bed wasn’t that comfortable. My mattress felt old. Little to no atmosphere. Most people barely say hello let alone make conversation. Don’t bank on this being a place to meet people.

Good location. Clean showers and bathroom. The dorms are fine. A big window so good natural light during the day. Small locker by your bed for personal belongings and a sizeable area for luggage.

The capsules can get a bit hot since there's no vents actually in there; the space outside of the capsule is really cold to fix it, but you may have to leave a little gap in your curtain if you run really hot

Facilities were clean. One of my towels had a stain and it was replaced immediately. Staff was super friendly -- to the point where I am genuinely friends with one of them, Akito, now and we even hung out in a different country! But they're all worth talking to. The location is great because you're not far away from anything -- 15-20 minutes will get you to basically all of the touristy sites.

The laundry situation wasn't the best.. waiting for 4 hours for a dryer and another 2 for the washing machine just makes no sense to me. In general the place felt a bit too small for the amount of people that come and go on daily basis

The shared lounge was a really nice opportunity to meet other travelers. The staff was really nice and had many suggestions and ideas on how to better spend time in the city and enjoy the stay. The location is wonderful, and close to many subway and bus options. A lot of good food in the area, parks, shrines and even the Harry Potter square is 10 min away by foot. All in all a really great experience!

The only thing is during my stay, people barely talk to each other and of course it's not the hostels fault.

It's as clean and convenient as any other hostel I've stayed in Japan. Big shout to Akito, who is always willing to help and share. The location is also just awesome, easy to take a train to anywhere and close to a couple of tax free Shops.

Really good Hostel. Everything should be as it is. The lounge and kitchen space is not so big but is good enough for a good Hostel stay. The space for the bed in the bedroom is even bigger than I expected, and the blind curtain makes you feel in a kind of your room with good privacy. Near of at least 3 subway station. Calm street, quiet block with nightlife a few streets away. Restaurants, convenience and market nearby. Clean bathroom and good shower. Really recommend for hostel users. Hope I can back for a longer staying there. Dōmo arigatōgozaimasu!

Nothing bad about the hostel at all. It's just the quality of people who were staying there were poor: talking super loudly in the room until I had to shush them at 1am; wearing slippers onto the beds and while IN THE SHOWER, causing the floor wet all the from the bathroom area, hallway into the bedroom; and someone was shaving and brushing teeth in the kitchen sink while someone was trying to prepare food?! But hey, it's a hostel after all, for all walks of lives...

Great hostel with convenient location. Thanks again for the wonderful staff and all that you do and have to put up with.
