The bathroom door is really close to the toilet so it can be a bit hard to use comfortably.

Really nice traditional guesthouse, makes you feel at home allowing you to use all the common spaces freely, meeting other people meanwhile. The beds were super comfortable as well.

It’s about 20mins on foot from the nearest train station, beds are a bit shaky and toilets and bathrooms super small, but for that experience would do it always again!

Beautiful traditional house, the host was so nice, I just felt like part of a Japanese family

As it is a very old house, some corridors and rooms like the bathroom/toilet are very cold during the winter. But the common area and sleeping room are heated up. The toilet is very cramped if you're tall. But these are minor inconveniences.

Very old style Japanese house with a nice Japanese atmosphere. Very cozy to hang out in the common area with the other guests.

Perhaps a bit more of the place could be under A/C during the very hot days of summer.

I liked the artist colony vibe of the place, with the bar area and tatami rooms, plus the local/Japanese feel since the owner and his friends/staff used the place as their own residence as well. They were very friendly and helpful. I liked that there was a beach so close by for a dip.

The house is not an anonymous hostel but a place with a special atmosphere. Hagi has a lot of traditional stuff to offer and Kominka Guesthouse helps you to get into the spirit! I was stuck here during the typhoon but I don't regret it, it's completely chilled out and quiet, the host is a nice guy and the rent a great bargain.

It was a heart-warming experience as if a long-term friend invited to stay at their place! The place is a bit far from the bus and train station (20-min walk), but it is 3-minute walk to beach, so if you want to be by the beach there is no better place! The supermarket and combini was within a 10-min walking distance.

Lovely traditional Japanese house, the owner was lovely and the guest house has a really nice social atmosphere so it was interesting to meet lots of other guests. The bed was comfy and there was lots of space for luggage. Good location

    Nothing

I had an amazing experience staying there when I visited Hagi. It's a traditional building with comfy bunkbeds and plenty of common areas to mingle with the other travellers. Kitchen is free to use and there are two toilets and a bathroom, all kept clean. The host has created a very warm and welcoming atmosphere and people usually sit down together for dinner and drinks. The place is a short walk to the beach and Hagi itself is a small town so you can walk everywhere easily. I am definitely coming back here and I totally recommend it if you are looking for a place to stay in Hagi.

The friendliness of the host was amazing. He also gave some recommendations about nearby places that I could visit as well as some specialty dishes for some places. Would love to stay there again next time when I return to Hagi and explore more the places nearby.

Location was a bit further from the station and I was not expecting such a long walk. The house is also a bit difficult to find since there is no marking about the name of the house.

Location was a bit far from the station. But overall it was pretty good since it is so close to the beach.

The only thing that was trouble was the squeaky bank bed whose noise was bad enough, even if you put up with other people's snoring 😴

The owner is a very kind person and easy to hold conversation on whatever subject that is relevant to the trip. This makes this place such a gathering place that people stick around for many days and end up being friends. Facilities are minimum but you don't expect much for what you pay.

I wasn't planning on staying in Hagi, but the trains stopped due to bad weather and I made a reservation here at the last minute. When I got there I immediately felt surrounded by friends. Everyone, guests, staff and friends of the staff were so nice. I had a great evening. It's a shame I didn't have plans to stay there and had to leave early the next day, I would have loved to spend more time with everyone.
