Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We really enjoyed our stay here. The place is spacious and very well equipped. In kitchen you can find all kinds of sauces If you want to cook yourself. The place is spotlessly clean and well maintained. The whole place has a beautiful blend of western and Japanese style and comfort. The host Koh san is a very kind, helpful and attentive gentleman. He makes good effort to try to make our stay enjoyable. He generously filled up the refrigerator for our breakfast. I highly recommend this place!

United StatesNothing. Just be open to a Japanese guesthouse experience
A Perfect Stay in Akita – A True Japanese Home Experience I had an absolutely wonderful and restful time at this guest house in Akita. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the comfort and excellent facilities. The accommodation offered a true taste of a traditional Japanese home, with a ground floor room featuring a cozy tatami mattress, a dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, and a private bathroom and shower—all exclusively for my use. It was the perfect blend of authenticity and convenience. The fridge was thoughtfully stocked with food, which made settling in even easier. What truly set this place apart, however, was the outstanding hospitality. Koha-san, the host, went above and beyond in every way. Not only was the house spotlessly cleaned every day, but Koha-san also offered incredibly generous support throughout my stay. He drove me to the Catholic Church so I could attend Mass, took me to visit the beautiful shrine of Our Lady of Akita, Seitai Hoshikai brought me to the relaxing Akita Onsen Plaza, and even dropped me off at Akita Station—all free of charge. He also gave excellent suggestions for the best Hanami spots, ensuring I experienced the cherry blossoms at their finest. His kindness and dedication made my visit truly unforgettable. I highly recommend AnBeeNa guest house to anyone visiting Akita. Whether you’re looking for peace, culture, or comfort, this place offers it all. Thank you, Koha-san, for being such an exceptional host.

CanadaNothing in particular.
We loved the warm welcome by the owner, the small touches like supplies for breakfast, and the confortable room. We had access to the whole ground floor and really felt like home. Just one train stop from Akita Station, so quite convenient as a location.

AustraliaAnbeena is genuinely the nicest place I have ever stayed on a holiday. The host, Kou-san, is an awesome guy, he even drove us to the station when we were leaving. He gives so much food in the fridge and out on the bench for you to use. The fact that you get the entirety of the lower floor is just so awesome, a dining room, kitchen, living room, tv room, laundry, bathroom, shower, tatami room. Its all the amenities you could need. Considering it's only 10 minutes from the heart of Akita its the place to stay. I would say that if you are going to Akita, check this place first before anywhere else. Its awesome.

JapanNothing. Everything was perfect !
We had the whole first floor of the house for ourselves. It felt like home with a kitchen, living room, dining area, bedroom and fireplace area. The futons were really comfortable. Koh had put everything we needed for breakfast (and more) in the fridge so we could prepare it ourselves. There were also snacks and chocolates for us. A first aid kit was available. Koh was always here in case we needed help for something. I highly recommend it !!!

United StatesLoved previous stay -- came here a second time for a longer stay! Koh-san is a super kind host, attentive and caring. Great space in the house, multiple rooms on the ground floor including the kitchen, everything is neat and clean. Koh-san always goes above and beyond: this time, he helped us buy tickets for a performance (which required research and dedication!), and also with a hotel reservation needing phone calls. Thank you so much for all your help, and we hope to be back again one winter -- Akita is our favorite prefecture!

United StatesGreat place to stay! Our host was wonderful and very helpful. He even accommodated our late arrival into the city by picking us up from the station so we wouldn't have to walk to the house late at night. The house itself was cozy and great place to enjoy our stay in.

The place was spacious, with two tatami rooms and a nice garden. Location is 1 stop away from Akita station, and you can definitely feel the host's hospitality in everything they do (offering lifts, offering snacks and so on). The host also puts in a lot of effort in providing recommendations and suggestions. I would definitely stay here again if given the chance.

United StatesKoh-san is an amazing host! Truly caring and attentive, drove us to and from the train station because weather was hot and we had a lot of luggage (can easily walk to the station normally, under 10 mins). Happily chatted and looked into recommendations for our interests in Akita+food, was enjoyable to get to know each other a little bit. The house is lovely, a mix of western and traditional Japanese styles, lots of space, both private and shared with Koh-san, and everything is spotlessly clean and cared for. Definitely will be happy to come back!

We could use all the rooms on the ground floor, including TV, couch and kitchen, which was nice!
