Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanRoom cleaning is not sufficient for example each edge of floor carpet is full of dust, clothes hangers are not wiped. Elevators are not efficient, you need to wair for more than 5 min. in the even weekday morning. Bereakfast is minimum choices. Height of pillows are insufficient and mattress is too soft to keep your posture.
Affordable price, good location and new facilities. Rice of breakfast is the best quality ever.

GermanyIt is a business hotel, so very crowded at times of check in and check out. Small rooms which is to be expected but always a bit of bothering. Parking not so easy.
A classic Apa hotel. Nothing spectacular but good for a night. Very comfy bed. Very clean. Fair price. Good location.

TaiwanThe room is a bit small, but considering the price, it’s acceptable. The scent of the body wash and shampoo is fine individually, but when mixed together, they unexpectedly produce a fishy smell. It is recommended to use products with a matching fragrance.
This hotel is in a great location. It's within walking distance to Niigata train station, or just a short walk to a bus stop that's only one stop away from the train station. The bus stop also provides access to other areas of the city. There are many restaurants and shops near the train station, making it very convenient. There's also a convenience store right in the hotel lobby.

CanadaThere was a fire alarm so we all had to head out of the building at 3AM and walk down 11 floors through emergency (the last floor down has a misplaced step so everyone tripped, it would need a warning strip). It was very stressful but it’s ok it happens, I just wish we had a more formal explanation on what happened. I didn’t like that power goes out not only for the lights but the electric plugs when we go out. I really wish I could charge up stuff in the room while I am away. Perhaps limited voltage when away or something — or only USB-A/C? I also wish the staff downstairs knew a bit of English. I make a big effort to speak 日本語 and have learned ひらがな and カタカナ, but sometime there are things I can’t ask in Japanese and I found much smaller hotels with English speakers on both my trips to Japan. Simple things like help with understanding the coin washing machine would be nice. Because it’s a big hotel there is less 1:1 help than smaller hotels.
The room was clean, big TV with interesting information about Japan which you can also stream your phone to. There was a tutorial video on how to put on a kimono. Easy process to connect to WIFI (each room has a separate wifi, not very fast but reasonably serviceable and stable). The onsen area was golden, very pleasant.

United StatesThe breakfast space is poorly designed, with very narrow passages and lots of bottlenecks, which is not good when it's crowded. There is no counter seating available, so if you eat by yourself you have to take up a whole table.
Great location, just a 5-10 min. walk from the train station, and close to lots of places to eat. Very good breakfast, and the breakfast is served until 2:00pm. Seven elevators, so you don't have to wait long. Very nice public bath, including a rotemburo.

United StatesThe hotel provided a nice combination of comfort and convenience, as it's located close to the Ryotsu Port and Niigata Station. The Lawson connected to the lobby was great for grabbing a late night snack. The hotel included a yukata and haori for guests to wear, which was very comfortable. We enjoyed using the large TV in the room and the public bath was a very relaxing experience.
