Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanI booked this hotel through Booking.com, and I had not seen an option to NOT pay for breakfast if you didn't need it, at least for the single room I reserved. So that felt like money wasted. Also, this location is not as convenient if you have heavy luggage and you don't have a personal guide who knows the area well. Google doesn't help either because it'll tell you take the closest train exit to the hotel, BUT if you have heavy luggage, Google does not take into account that the closest stations do NOT have elevator or escalator access to the ground floor above the subway. It's confusing too because even if you find one elevator, it might not even be on the correct platform side you need to be on, and then you have to take the elevator back up and find the OTHER counterpart elevator entrance to the train platform you need. Very frustrating if you're new to the area and alone and/or don't have a guide. Another thing is that the hallways and elevator have zero air conditioning, so it's very hot everywhere except the lobby and inside your room but only AFTER you turn on your room AC. If you're traveling here in summer, your room will be an oven when you first enter. Inside the room, I was heavily disappointed that the "universal charger" did not fit my 3-prong power adapter for my US-based laptop. Americans - beware! Bring a 3-prong adapter or you'll have to find the nearest mega electronics store that will actually sell one (the 100-yen store adapters will not work).
The room may be tiny (I booked a standard single), but I think it's very well designed to be as efficient with space as possible and still be pretty comfortable. There were plenty of hooks along the walls to hang things, and the huge TV is amounted on the wall in front of the bed for nice easy dozing off before bed or relaxing. It's a newly built hotel too and completely smoke-free, so the spaces are generally very clean and I loved how you can manually adjust your room temperature, whereas some other hotels in Japan don't let you. And after staying in older budget hotels around Japan, I now have a great appreciated for the fact that this hotel's AC air does NOT have any hint of general oldness and lingering stale smoke smells from previous smokers (urgh).

AustraliaI didn't find the location as good as I thought, but as with most things in Tokyo you're never too far away from anything!

GermanyGreat location, you can use 3 different train stations. Hotel managers are very welcoming and friendly, you can easily leave your luggage if applicable. Though the rooms are small, it's a common situation in Tokyo, so for the paid value it's a great opportunity.

United StatesRooms were the smallest from all that I have stayed. Not much around to do or eat near this hotel. Convenient 10min walk to subway. Also 10 min walk to yamato luggage service. No laundry service on site.
You get daily towels and pajamas hung on your door every day. Great economical stay. There is a restaurant attach to the hotel.

SwitzerlandWouldn't take double rooms (room gets quite cramped with two people).
Typical APA i.e. quite cheap but you get a small room. Pros are that there is a direct train from Narita Airport and is located near Konbinis & metro stations (as pretty much anywhere in Tokyo to be fair).

ItalyI played my violin for 15 min at 4pm in my room, and a person of the reception told me that I can not play! This is insane, as a musician I always travel with my instrument, and need to play a little at least. Never had anywhere problems, but this lady was just “No”. Will not ever come back again.

CanadaSome aspects of cleaning could be improved (found hair in the bathroom upon checking in and after cleaning days). While we had items on the desk, there were sections accessible during cleaning days, but it was not cleaned (based on dust accumulating as we were there for a week).
Located close to train stations and convenience stores (food is much better at Japanese convenience stores than North American ones), helpful staff, AC in room, good amenities for price paid. Even though the room is small, there was space under the bed for luggage, a mini fridge, and a desk, and they had wall hooks and hangers -- note: because my sister and I are just over 5', the height of the bathroom ceiling was fine; however if you are closer to 6' and above it may feel cramped. We liked the complimentary toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, disposable: razors, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair cap, towel for scrubbing body, facial tissues). We also liked the complimentary instant coffee and matcha - there is a kettle in the room and they provide disposable cups.
