How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified review- Great location (unless you have issue staying midst chaos of Shinjuku night life) - Close to shopping malls and restaurants - Decent breakfast but if you prefer continental this is not the one for you. Verified reviewThe location is in the heart of Kabukicho and a short walk from Shinjuku and Shinjuku Sanchome stations. So, it's very convenient to get the JR and Tokyo Metro trains. It's also a short walk to various shops and eateries. The staff were polite and welcoming as you'd expect and you can easily store your baggage if you arrive before the check-in time.

Verified reviewVery convenient location, exceptional quietness and cleanliness, helpful staff always ready to clarify any requests. The little paper crane in the room was heartwarming. The view from rooms is great!
Very minor nitpick: I would have appreciated some couches on the ground floor, to just sit down for a minute and look up routes etc before leaving the hotel for the day. Seating spots in the restaurant area are not very comfortable for this purpose.

Verified reviewThe location was great as it is on the edge of the area where all the hotels are located, close to restaurants and bars to visit as well as big tourist spots. The staff was always kind and helpful, willing to communicate with customers in Japanese or English. The room itself was nice and had the basic things you need. There was a new set of toiletry items every day.
There was only one elevator, so during rush hours (check-in/out, evening) there was longer waiting times.

Just the fact that the shower is a bit small for those who are tall

Some amenities, such as towels, are replaced daily in front of the guest rooms, but others are not replenished daily. If you have any requests, please contact the front desk. However, some parts of the guest rooms have low ceilings. Additionally, there are areas in the guest rooms with lower ceilings. Due to structural limitations, we regret that these cannot be modified. We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. However, our hotel is compact in design, so some rooms may feel low-ceilinged for taller guests. This is especially true for the bathrooms, which have steps. The ceiling height is a difficult aspect to modify, so we kindly ask for your understanding. Additionally, our hotel does not have a smoking area. Since smoking on the streets is prohibited in Shinjuku, please use the nearby public smoking areas when smoking. 1 - rooms were tiny for 2 people 2 - no lobby so no seats so you couldn’t wait for anyone. 3 - reception was all automated with machines, however, it required a member of staff to run it 4 - staff were unfriendly 5 - breakfast was incredibly poor, probably one of the worst hotel breakfasts I’ve ever encountered. I am all eating the food of the country, however, naan breads and curry wasn’t what had in mind 6 - during our 8am breakfast, guests were incredibly loud and drunk as they have been drinking all through the night. Nothing was said. Glad I only stayed one night and I would not return

We will do our best not to keep our guests waiting too long, but please forgive us when the front desk is crowded, such as when many people come to the front desk to check in. In addition, we do not have sofas or tables in the lobby due to the lack of sufficient space in our hotel. We would appreciate it if you could check the photos of the front desk floor, the hotel facilities, and the restaurant on the Internet before your stay. Please note that our restaurant is an oriental food restaurant. We are sorry if you are expecting a complete Japanese meal, but the restaurant's specialty is freshly baked naan and curry. And our hotel is located in the center of Kabukicho. It is an area famous for its night activities with many bars and restaurants. Therefore, it is not a safe area. To make the most of the limited space, we have installed under-bed storage and various light switches around the bed. If you still feel cramped, please consider booking an additional room.
