Amazing place by the river and hot springs and for me it was absolutely the best place in the Komano kodo trail.the rooms are big, clean and comfortable with a river view. breakfast was yummy and the hot spring was private - real treat. The place run by a family all with lovely smile and beautiful good and kind eyes. Great value, highly recommended!

Very cool place on the river near an open air public onsen. If you want the taste of a French chalet in Japan, this is your place. Host was so kind and the food was delicious.

Lovely, quaint accommodation, wonderful owners. Two private onsens, which was such a treat. Two shared toilets (one for men, one for women) and a shared washroom. Meals cooked by owners and served in the shared eating area.

The rooms don’t have private bathrooms. We didn’t mind at all, but some guests might.

The staff were so friendly. The onsen facilities were private and wonderful. The food was tasty. It was in a less busy part of the onsen area around Yunomine Onsen. And we could easily go into the natural hot spring area in the river across the street.

Architecture and decor are of a Swiss Chalet. Interior decor is a copy paste from a Swiss Chalet of the 1970s. Some may find this attractive, a Japanese style of emulation with no self-reflection. Food is strongly meat oriented. Have we travelled to Japan for hamburgers and Bolognese? (Quite good though)

Uniquely and superbly located right over a river onsen. You cross the road and immerse yourself in hot water under your very window. Management is friendly and caring. off season there is no alternative around, not even a convenient store. But it is well prepared and aesthetic. Rooms are spacious. Nothing like indoor and outdoor Onsen for aching legs after days of tough hiking.

We love this place for its relaxed atmosphere, splendid location next to a natural river onsen, great food and amazing hospitality. By far our favorite plc in Japan. Stayed there twice and will return again if we ever come back to Japan.

The meal is in western style, which is not good for this price. I would suggest this hotel to transfer guests to eat at the hotel next door. It can also save personnel and cost.

Clean, neat as a Japanese standard. There is wild nature hot water flowing out in the river in front of the hotel. Can enjoy a wild onsen.

Unfortunately there were children staying whilst we were there and they were very noisy - certainly not the fault of the owner but rather the mother that allowed them to run up and down the hall making a lot of noise at all hours.

Perfect location with bus stop directly opposite and an amazing view with the river with onsen opposite. Very friendly staff - could not have been more helpful with all the information for bus/train schedule for the following day. Excellent meals - real home cooked meal, with multiple courses.

The quilt is a little bit thin.

Really great stay place in Kumano Kudo. The host is quite nice and guide you the route of next day. He also provides really extraordinary service helping me reserve the restaurant when it's too late. I would recommend it!

It was very old school like out of a film. The view from my room was excellent and it was a cosey place. The owner suggested I go his friend restaurant and the food there was excellent

Honestly it was all great. If I'm being very picky, I could hear what sounded like a generator from the back bedroom, but nothing a pair of ear plugs couldn't help with!

The owners were very hospitable and helpful. The dinner was delicious, exactly what we needed after a day of hiking. They prepared a breakfast to go and a bento lunch for us to take early the next morning on departure. He even made us coffee early in the morning to get us started on the right foot!! We went to the outdoor onsen across the road which was super fun. I would highly recommend staying here.
