Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaEverything was great
The view was incredible from the room, the onsen, and the restaurant. Dinner was delicious and the staff were friendly. The courtesy pick up and drop off service from the nearby train station was really efficient and helpful. This is a beautiful part of Wakayama, very close to Wakayama City, that is well worth visiting if you want to be close to the ocean.

JapanThis is not the hotel's fault, but a French lady entered the onsen without showering beforehand. I want to stress that this is not the hotel's responsibility, and she did not listen even after being informed to wash properly. I felt sorry that the staff had to educate people like this as it ruins the experience for everyone. There was also a group of Singaporean lads who turned off the light outside, which made other guests uncomfortable. They wanted to see the stars, we told them to turn it back on as it was too dark otherwise but covering the light switches might help prevent this issue.
Loved the staff who were very kind and warm. The onsen was also beautiful as well - I loved that we could enjoy the veranda outside with the ocean view and the seats were very comfortable. It was nice that we were able to have cooling teas upon arrival and the restaurant meal was delicious. The hotel is within reach to a famous shrine and a lovely seaside wharf walk. We were able to watch some of the local community practice for the エビ祭り which was also very unique and fun to see. I enjoyed that it didn't feel overly crowded and the train ride here was also thoroughly enjoyable. A perfect weekend treat!

SingaporeMaybe overall not the newest hotel, and I wished maybe there was air extraction in the toilets of our room, but it was not a big concern.
Superb view on the shore (we got beautiful sunsets, from the bedroom, from the dining space, and from the onsen :) Nice traditional room. Amazing breakfast. Great onsen! Free parking.

JapanI booked at the last minute and wasn’t able to order the seafood dinner and breakfast (that needs to be 3 days in advance). I was able to eat lunch nearby, but if you don’t get a room with meals included you should eat before getting on the train to Kada and bring snacks.
The ocean view from the room and the hot spring bath was wonderful. I appreciated the little details that made the overall experience nicer, like the driver of the shuttle taking the 10 minute scenic route along the coast instead of straight through town to the hotel. It was fun to choose from the variety of colorful yukata(robes) available for women and children that can be worn after bathing. (Sorry men, there’s only one standard pattern for you.) The nearby beach was also beautiful, although empty because swimming season had ended.

AustriaBe careful as the town doesn't have any supermarkets or convenience stores even though this is part of the charm. However I stayed on a Tuesday and a Wednesday where most restaurants and shops were closed so there is little to no options beyond the restaurants at the hotel.
The town and the hotel felt like a memory from the Showa era. The view of the ocean is spectacular. Staff were super friendly and helpful.

AustraliaI was not aware that the hotel was not in Wakayama, but two train changes and a shuttle ride to Kada. It would have been helpful for the hotel to provide further information on how to get there.
I loved the view and the onsen The seafood meal was also excellent I also liked walking around the town and finding the shrine

United StatesThe town of Kada is VERY MUCH a fishing village. So if you want to eat locally for lunch better do so by 3pm, if they have food left by then. You're in kada for this onsen and the Shrine next door that is the beginning of the Girl's Day tradition, that's it.
Mistakenly arrived at 9am for my scheduled 8 am breakfast (they close at 9am) but was still able to enjoy it. I do like that they alternate the onsens between men and women so you can enjoy both if staying at least 2 nights. Plenty of seating on the patio to be able to ready by the seaside with the gentle breeze :)

ChinaThe facilities in the bathroom are a little old and crowded. It would be great to have milk for breakfast.
The staff are very warm-hearted and friendly. The shuttle bus can take me from/to kada station, which is very convenient. There are all kinds of things in the bathroom, which is very sweet. The restaurant in the hotel and open-air soup pool has a beautiful view.
