How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIf I could give more than 10 stars, I absolutely would! This place is pure perfection. Every corner of the house radiates warmth, care, and an incredible attention to detail – it’s spotless, cozy, and beautifully maintained. But the true magic? The food! Please, if you have the chance – book the dinner! Suzuki is not only a brilliant chef, but also a truly exceptional host. His kindness, generosity, and hospitality go far beyond anything we’ve ever experienced. Every dish was a masterpiece, prepared with love and presented with joy. We felt so welcomed and cared for from the very first moment. The service, the atmosphere, the whole experience – just WOW! There was absolutely nothing missing. It was like coming home to a place we didn’t know we were missing. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will never forget this stay!

Verified reviewWe arrived on a very rainy day and were greeted warmly by the owner, which set such a kind and welcoming tone for our stay. Despite the weather, the place had a cozy and inviting vibe that made us feel right at home. The house itself is beautiful and incredibly convenient, with everything we needed. We loved spending time indoors, watching movies and cooking dinner in the well-equipped kitchen. The breakfast served by our host was fantastic and delicious, a perfect start to the day. I only wish we could have stayed for at least two nights to fully relax and enjoy everything this lovely place has to offer.

Verified reviewThe most beautiful bed and breakfast I've ever been to. Suzuki was so kind, and every detail was carefully thought out. The most comfortable beds during our stay in Japan. The woodwork is absolutely incredible and the ryokan has a modern yet traditional feel. So serene -I don't think it's mentioned, but there's a small waterfall out the front of Suzuki's place. It was so easy to relax and unwind. The 7 course vegetarian breakfast he prepared for us was absolutely incredible, I just wish I could have eaten it all! Would definitely recommend and visit again, we didn't want to leave! ☺️
Thank you for the great review. Please come again someday. Thank you

Verified reviewWhile there are countless great things about this spot, the best of them is undoubtedly the delicious food—Mr. Suzuki is a Japanese chef who is formally trained in French cuisine, and the meals he prepares are better than most gourmet restaurants (do they give Michelin stars for BnBs?). We're talking 8-10 separate dishes that showcase vegetable that are in season and fish fresh from the market. Get dinner and breakfast here, every day during your stay—it will be more than worth your while! Our son turned 6 the day we arrived, and Chef Suzuki made a beautiful, delicate whipped cream and strawberry layered cake for us to celebrate, so consider the add ons offered. The building itself is newly renovated and boasts a clean japanese ryoken style: lots of cedar, rectangular designs and straight lines. There are plenty of nice touches, like a coffee and tea nook, a record player with an extensive collection of vinyl, and a projector. Then the view from the front doors is spectacular. You can rest on the deck and take a dip in the hot tub (not an onsen hot spring). Everywhere on this property, you will find yourself much calmer being surrounded by natural beauty, and if you like to hike, Mr Suzuki can even show you nearby trails. Finally, the host's family is kind and hospitable, and his two little boys are cute and fun to see. Mr. Suzuki will tell you about his travels (he backpacked around the world when younger, and he now travels for cooking competitions). An amazing place with incredible value in the heart of Japan. Couldn't recommend this spot higher!

Verified reviewAmazing breakfast, served beautifully, exactly like the photos which somehow don’t do it justice! Suzuki and his family are the cutest and they even gifted us the most DELICIOUS chocolate cake at the end of our stay. We wish we could have stayed for longer and that we booked dinner too! We will definitely be staying again when we next get a chance.
Thank you for your wonderful review. We appreciate that you kept the room clean. Please come visit Japan again.

Verified reviewBeautifully designed and built. It's a sanctuary of peace and calm in the forested hills. We were only overnighting on our way back to Tokyo but would have loved to stay one or two nights longer to explore the area. Suzuki makes really delicious food which looks like art. Breakfast was stupendous and dinner too. The hot tub after dinner was a real treat, under the stars.
That we could only stay one night
