The only thing i could complain about is the tatami mat bed which is very common in Japan so its not a big deal but my western back cant handle it haha 😆

Everything basically! The beds had so many small wonderful touches that show the effort he puts into his place. The kitchen and relaxing area as well. Its like a traveler decided to make a hostel as a passion. So many great things. The beds also are large and there are free cooking things at your disposal. The size of the hostel also allows for more deep connections with other guests. The owner is wonderful and always has a huge smile 😊

This is not really a concern for me but maybe for those who are sensitive to sound but they use sliding glass doors and can be loud when opened.

Host is very friendly and likeable. The place is really cozy. They have a separate space for which you can work or spend time alone away from the hostel itself where guests stay and sleep. It has full amenities, from drinkable tap water, to appliances like ref and you can even cook if you want! The space which you will sleep is very large as well. You can also ask to borrow bike from the host for free (traditional bike and not the e-bike used for cycling).

There's nothing to dislike about!

Located few station away from Shizuoka, Kanbara is a simple town with many Edo era building. Tsubame no Yado located inside a historical Japanese house (160-years-old). Everything inside the hostel is delicately built, I stayed in Sei-Shitsu (6 beds dorm), futon is really comfy and very spacious. The "bed box" also equipped with a small safe to lock your valuables, hangers, a little bin and tissue paper, which i found it is very detail-minded and heart-warming. Other amenity also fully equipped, clean toilet and bathroom, washing & drying machine, a nice living room and kitchen. I stayed for two nights. Visited the sea side, watching Suruga Bay, walking up hill (Goteyama, which will be full some sakura in spring!) and went to see Fireworks in Shimizu one night. As Kanbara station is not a main station so I get home easily after the fireworks and avoided the crowd in Shizuoka! (Hostel is around 10 mins walk from Shin-Kanbara Station) I highly recommended Tsubame no Yado to everyone going to travel in Shizuoka, Osawa san and Hiroka san are managing this hostel very well and staying here worth a great value of money. Hope to visit this Yado again next time with a bicycle :))))) ありがとう！

A guest house that looks and feels like home. Every equipment needed is here. Rooms are big enough. There is enough space outside the bedroom to place lugages without blocking the way. Lovely cheap place, located in a peaceful neighborhood not too far from the big city, recommended to those who are looking to visit Fuji or Fujinomiya !

The tatami beds are a little hard

The hostel is very homey and warm, felt very comforting there. Lovely building not too far from the train station. The host was incredible so much information is given and he really loves his community.

It was a bit confusing to find the check in shop, I may have been missing something.

Beautiful location in a town with many historic Meiji era buildings, only a short hike to some fantastic views of mount Fuji. The hostel itself was very nice too with a well kept garden. The owner was also exceptionally enthusiastic and helpful!

Although is bunk bed but is tatami with futon, quite spacious too ! Lovely traditional house, but inside with equipped electrical equipments. Peaceful quite sleep, wake up by birds singing. 😀 Then environment also nice cozy town. Walking distance from train station and alot cheap and tasty restaurants nearby.

Nothing, all was great.

The owner is very kind. You can tell he likes to meet new people and to help them discovering the town. The place is small and confortable. I slept well. And the town has so many things to see and visit. I would definitely like to go back to this hostel!

The only downside is that the pavement to the hostel is gravel so with luggage, I had to carry it.

The owner and family are very welcoming and friendly. 10 min walk from shin kambara. Though the check in and hostel are at different places, it's only a minute away. Individual space is large enough to have all the bags fitted in your space. Family Mart and Indian food is just behind the hostel

I am delighted with my stay! From the moment of arrival, I felt like I was in my grandmother's village thanks to the friendly and welcoming Kosei. The hostel is located in a great location, just a short walk from many mountain peaks offering stunning views of Mount Fujiyama. This has made my walks incredibly comfortable and I take with me a lot of beautiful photos against the background of the volcano. This house has exceeded all my expectations. Every detail in the house is made with love. It is an ideal place for travelers who are looking for a comfortable, affordable and welcoming place to stop. I will definitely come back here again and recommend this hostel to anyone planning a trip to Fujiyama Volcano! P.S. Kosei, special thanks for the bicycle, the second pillow and present! 🫶

Maybe its just something to be aware that the alide doors of the hostel rooms are quite loud but its super annoying. Everything else is great its very clean and tidy.

Very nice hosts, a peaceful accomodation for a good price. I really liked the style of the rooms and the hostel itself. It has two showers and two toilets which is great than just having one for everyone.

I loved the whole place! Kosei was lovely and the hostel was spotlessly clean. It was very relaxed, although the location was a little far from many places, I loved that it felt like a true Japanese street. The interior was amazing and there were all the amenities you need! Cozy guest house, with a warm couple hosting you. Location near the train station, convenance store and restaurants. What's more the historique cal streets are beautiful with a lot of old wooden japanese house to visite !

It's my favourite hostel in Japan so far! It is small but cozy. The Japanese futons are nice. The kitchen has everything that you could need. The sleeping cabins are very big! Kosei, the host is friendly and helpful. Staying here feels more like living with your friends rather than staying in a hostel with strangers. A convenience store is right behind it and the train station and the supermarket are just 10 min by foot. I would definitely come back!
