How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewPossibility of registration at any time! Very friendly staff! When I arrived, my room was already cool, as they prepared the room for me in advance, turning on the air conditioner! Free breakfast (although I did not use it, but this is a noticeable plus for people who are used to having breakfast. The rooms are clean, no smells! No curfew. Availability of yukata and slippers!
There is little space in the bathroom to store accessories; if there were shelves, it would be much more convenient!

Verified reviewThe property was in a secluded area off the main road, which made the room quiet during the evening hours. The room was nice, but a little small. It was suitable for a short stay.
No food, but coffee and bread from 7:30 AM. Convenience store nearby. The bed was comfortable, but I would have liked a Smart TV that can stream at least Netflix, as I cannot understand most of the Japanese programs.

Verified reviewThe location of the hotel is not the best. It is really close to the first bus stop (3-5 min), but there is nothing far accessible in the area. No restaurants. Luckily, there is a Familly mart 10 minutes away. The room in the hotel is clean and just big enough for maybe 2 people. I don't even need a very big room because I am only in the room when I come to sleep, otherwise I am out all day. The staff is friendly, but no one speaks English, so we used Google translator to communicate the whole time. If you are looking for a quiet environment, then choosing this hotel is the right choice.
There are no restaurants nearby.

Verified reviewGood price-quality lodge. The place was clean and in the morning a small breakfast with bread and coffee is offered to the guests. The staff is nice thought the English is very limited and even helped calling a taxi on the next day. Still good value for money, one gets what pays for.
Nothing particular to say, I only have 2 observations that I have read in previous reviews that were confirmed during our stay. 1. The lodge is quite rigid with check - in time has in the website says until 21:00. We have arrived shortly after and kept the hotel informed, but they were very clear that they would not wait for more than 30 minutes past 21:00. So it’s good to take into consideration that when booking as there is not much flexibility. 2. The room smelled a bit like mould, but nothing very strong and when we turned the AC it got better. I

Verified reviewRoom was bigger than usual for this price point! They provide you with indoor slippers to change into, which means the facilities indoors are squeaky clean all the time. Had a cozy stay for 2 nights.

Verified reviewWe asked for cancellation due to the earthquake and alarm. All other applications later than this one were approved but this one was the only one not agreeing cancellation for free, which is very rare (We didn't intend to cancel but just in case). This is very unpleasant. We finally got on our trip but the Express JR was canceled so we arrive in late night. I sent messages in early morning to ask if I can check in later due to several delays of trains, or at least leave me the room key somewhere as we've already paid the room cost. The reply was very late in the afternoon saying the checkin should be no later than 9pm, and only agreed to wait to 9:30pm after I complaint that I've paid the room charge, but cannot checkin before 9:00pm without a room key left to us. In a word, they are hard to communicate for any change. Besides, every time I left message in English, the reply was in Japanese. I had to google translate the feedback. Be careful
