We wanted to stay one night, but then decided to stay two nights instead, because there are nice things to do there. 30 minutes walk is a lake with tourist acitivities (boat ride, ropeway up the volcanic mountain) and you can hike, see Mount Fuji and enjoy nature. We came in the summer time, so it wasn't crowded and we had the place almost to ourselves. The onsen was not in demand as it was summer, but I still enjoyed to dip my feet in there and take a cold shower with a nice view. There is a direct bus going there from Tokyo and yet it is very quiet and completely in nature.

It's not advisable to go out after dark, as there is nothing to do. Luckily, there are many activities to do indoors (massage chair, table tennis, piano, gym). You also have to plan ahead for dinner and either bring your own or order ahead for delivery with reception for 5pm. Worst case, they sell instant noodles.

Onsen was delightful. Room large and beautiful outlook into the trees! Good location and easy to get on the tourist bus. Dinner, had to book through host and they picked up & dropped off, food was incredible! Stay was ok & interesting!!

Hard to find. Got told wrong stop number, then google maps sent us on a wild up hill track. Asked for help and person didn’t speak English, but was our host (visibly very intoxicated). Host wasn’t around much & other guests found check in difficult.

    The owner seemed nice.

Traditional should not mean run down. I have no idea why the comments on this place were so positive. It was dirty, run down, futons were low quality and uncomfortable. The onsen was nothing like the pictures. it is located rather far from everything. We paid for 2 nights however we stayed only one night… still hoping for a refund for the second night. Steer clear from this place.

Staff friendly but needed google translator to communicate. Room clean, newly updated with comfortable futon and toilet and wash basin within the room. Enclosed area in the room with table and chairs was lovely for meals overlooking the trees. Three onsens were enjoyable and included toiletries and hairdryer. Free parking.

Internet photos are not current as the public areas are a little rundown, dated and used for storage. The microwave didn't work but staff kindly heated the food in their own kitchen. Additional cost to guests for onsens. Need a car to get to food store or restaurants.

Very good instructions from our hosts, both to get there and about using the onsens, etc. Lovely onsens and comfortable, quiet Japanese-style rooms in green surroundings. Snack food can be bought on site and some food delivery seemed to be possible.

It was a great experience to stay in an authentic ryokan. Situated in 20 min by foot or 5 min by bus from the beautiful Ashi lake with a view to Fuji. The owner is very friendly - he organized a transfer for us for a dinner. And private onsen helped us rest and relax after a long day.

Likes: the private onsen, the Fuji and district views. Dislikes: no food provisions at the ryokan - all food must be brought in.

The Onsen was very hot. Estimated at 45°C. I recommend adding cold tap water prior to entering. They had a table tennis table which was good for the kids. They had a parking spot for our hire car which was handy.

Difficult to find. No food locations close to the property so ensure you pickup a pre packaged meal from Lawson or 7/11 in the afternoon prior to arriving. The traditional wheat beds are firm to say the least.

The location was great, close to the bus stop. The staff were helpful.

The place was run down, dusty, lost of cob webs everywhere on the ceilings. Couldn’t use the onsen as it smelt. We struggled to sleep in the room as it was musty and it smelt. We slept with our face mask on because of the dust and mould. We stayed out till late and our group left early to avoid staying in the room. The staff were very helpful. In the early days this place would be amazing just need some TLC..

The onsens are relly nice, so is the size of the rooms. You can walkt o the lake around 20 min walk.

Well, the hotel is far from everything (good and bad), the hotel is very clean and tide and the stuff are great but it has seen better days and feels a little old. Also you need tp think in advance about buying food in the 7/11 or going to a restaurant because of the distance of the hotel, they do offer an option of buying beer, sake, snacks and instant ramen cups
