Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandThe website did not indicate there is no elevator available. Moving large suitcases up to and down from the top floor was very awkward in the steep and tight stairwell. Found it difficult to properly control the heat pump / air con in The English translation of the instructions were inadequate.
The beds were comfortable and the room was clean

AustraliaWe did have an issue as the hotel isn’t staffed and the check in process can be a bit long winded. Plus there were frosted small windows high up in the walls that were hard to open and didn’t provide a view. When we did open them the smell of diesel from the ferry’s came into the room while the ferry was running. This is a side effect of booking close to the ferry!
The place was clean and fairly good value, being so close to the ferry, our reason for choosing this location.

CanadaFirst impression was very unsettling with a dingy unmanned lobby that was dirty and had spider webs. There was no elevator to get to the rooms. TV was a projection unit that was hard to manage. Screen in bathroom needs to be replaced as was dirty and moldy. Unmanned automated checkin was annoying. No room safe. Room had a musty smell that needs to be aired out. Windows were small and out of reach so could not be opened.
Close to train and ferry port. Room was good size and clean. Came with towels and toothbrushes and coffee and tea

United StatesNo on-site parking available. The parking lot next door cost almost half of the cost of the room for overnight parking. Other parking lots in the area were just as expensive if not more expensive. Add 1/3 of the cost of the room for parking.
The room was clean, functional and amenities were well stocked. There were adequate towels for two people and both a Western style toilet and two beds. Room was clean and proximity to the train station was excellent.

United KingdomIt all worked out fine but because check-in is entirely electronic, make sure you are able to read the check-in instruction email before you arrive. (There's free WiFi at the nearest train station).
I booked the accommodation solely as a base for a day-tip to Miyajima Island so I didn't use the hotel's communal areas or see much of the local area. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room and, as seems standard for Japan, it was well stocked with toiletries etc. The location of the hotel was perfect for my purposes, as it was close to the rail station and just next to the ferry port.

Singapore1) stupid login system - you need to turn the knob to left in GREAT STRENGTH at the main door, if not you have to key the access number again. - you have to preregister the login to have the QR code before scan to the tablet given on the bar table. While I did it a few times, the data show is incorrect date. I become panic and realise they only allow you to login after 3pm (I thought I book the wrong date) - with above issue, there is no way to call that given contact number cos no one answer only with ring tone. - finally managed to login after 3pm and there are steps to scan passport and photos. (OK the process is fine after all the panic hassle) 2) Hotel lobby - it look like ghost hotel with no light, only at tablet corner. Bar table cover with plastic sheet , find it errie. 3) room - room is big and clean however the mattress too soft until you can fall off from the edge - my room is 301 , have to carry luggage walk the stairs 😑 - room with NO window, is weird 4) seem like no one stay except me and my friend that night, we feel unsecured and uneasy, we turn on all the lights to sleep. Basically this is 'ghost' hotel with no one around, when need help for system login no one can assist you and leave you in panic, crack the head to resolve it yourself. DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL!!
Only the location that's near to the station, that's all and nothing else.

AustraliaIt was like a bomb shelter with no windows to be able to see outside, as they were frosted glass. You could hear other guest in their rooms and even use their toilet. It was advertised as western beds but it was just mattresses on the floor , and very comfortable. We had to pay 200 00Y for parking- as it was self-check in - there was no one to ask for help

AustraliaThere was a bar downstairs which I have no idea if it ever opens, it felt abandoned. An elevator also would’ve been nice but not requirement. It’d also be nice to have somewhere to store luggage before check in and after check out as most coin lockers in the area fill up really quick and it’s hard to explore with a suitcase.
It seemed a little suspicious that it had a self check in because I didn’t know about that before booking. And the price was quite cheap so we expected something small and dinky but it was way better than expected. The room was heaps nicer than the photos showed, and the self check in was incredibly easy. The bathroom was actually a really good size for a hotel especially compared to other places we’ve stayed in the past weeks. They provided so much for us in the room as well like single use products, pet products and general amenities.

SlovakiaThe biggest issue was cold. When we arrived, AC was on heating, but it was very cold in there. AC was the only heat source in room and we were freezing, especially in bathroom. That made our stay here very uncomfortable. There is no staff, so there's no one to complain about anything. We had 2 beds, but used only one, right under AC to keep ourselves warm during the night. Thankfully we stayed here only 1 night and I don't recommend stay here during winter. Smoking room was locked and absence of staff was very unpleasant.
Room was clean and really big in comparison to other japanese hotels. I loved projector, it is so much better than TV. Location next to the ferry was perfect.
