Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

JapanThe pillow in the bedroom was uncomfortable, items were piled up on the way to the bedroom, the radio, TV, and alarm buttons on the console in the capsule bedroom were out of order, and the TV was broken and unwatchable.
The accommodation is located close to the station, so it is convenient to travel around. The staff at the reception desk are friendly. The toilet and bathroom are clean. The nightwear and shower are clean and comfortable. There is a plug socket in the bedroom and the room is well lit.

SpainBeds were not the greatest. Not very comfy for a tall westerner. It is male only, only one floor for women and they are not allowed in the onsen.
Staff was very helpful and polite. The onsen is on the last floor and seemed taken care of. They close only during night time so it has good opening hours to use it. They also have all the toiletries you may need. Good and quiet location very close to Otsuka st.

United StatesAah, where do I begin with the cons lol... So first off the bed is really uncomfortable, my sleep was awful here... I got about 4 or 5 hours of sleep every night (was bad sleep too btw waking up every hour every day...) because of how thin the tiny mattress pad you have is and the amount of people snoring on the floor you share with 45 other people at max capacity and usually it's close to that on the weekends, Friday, Saturday and Sunday... So basically it's like you're sleeping on a blanket on the ground, just imagine that... Some of the staff were a bit rude, and I'm not sure if that's just because their English was limited so when they did tell you to do something it was very stern and some of the times you don't even know they're staff until you see them at the check-in counter later because the staff just live in the capsule hotel lol... So a bit weird, I get it but when someone is telling you to do something with sort of authority and you have no idea who they are it gets uncomfortable... Overall I think this place has the potential to be REALLY GOOD but with the sleeping situation it's just so bad that I can't give it a better rating... Especially for the price, I'm at a new hostel now that is like 1/3 the price and the sleeping situation is easily 10 times better lol...
So there is a lot to LIKE about this place... It's right next to Otsuka Station and the next station is Ikebukuro going counterclockwise on the JR Line, very very nice! This is apart of the main Tokyo JR Line around Tokyo so you can go to all the major cities from this station! So location is great!! The facilities are quite good too clean you have a good amount of space everywhere, plenty of sinks and toilets!! The bath house/room in on the 8th floor (men only) and it has just one warm water shower, but there are about 9 or 10 short stools to sit on and wash from so you can do so. Don't wear sandals into the wash room because some Japanese men will have a stern conversation with you about how that "isn't the Japanese way" lol... Safe place to stay overall just really great location, and good food places all around and plenty of grocery stores.

China1- First, staff DOES NOT speak English, despite they mention it on the website. I discussed at 3 moments of the day (morning, afternoon and late evening), and always the staff could not align more than three words in English (see below), and always used online translation. This is fine, but please, do not pretend this on the website that you speak English, that is a shame. 2- The WORST is that I asked to pay cask and not via the app, but they FORCED me to use the app to buy, why the Japanese local before ne did not! I insisted to have the same, and the employee first said that the rule was different between local and foreigners, and then the manager understand that is NOT LEGEL to say that, so i just said that is the same rule for everyone, which is a scandal and pure lie. I insisted to see the rule, and he could not show me a single rule showing that I cannot pay and order at the counter (which only locals can). The reason behind that is that the price on the app for foreigners is literally 3 to 4 times the price that he local pay on-site, the manager behave very rudely and refused to give any explanation expected keep repeating the rule "please follow the rule", while I said "yes but please show me the rule" multiple times, which at the end he show me a very random rule that DID NOT GO ON HIS FAVOR (on the contrary). After a check with some Japanese friend, please know that this is ILLEGAL and they should have accepted me order and paying at the counter.
Location was not bad at all, and the Sauna was the best value of the hotel

BelgiumSo quick notices : it’s an onsen-like bathroom, so no privacy at all. I stayed 2 nights and I didn’t mind, but after the 2nd night I was wanting for a bit more privacy and calm when taking my shower. The capsules are old, they’re definitely not the best, just a « it does its job » thing. But the curtains are worn out and see-through, so no privacy. And the other guests are not the most silent. Now the real stuff which pushed me to put my first ever review on Booking : so, I left my room before check-out time at 10AM, it was empty and ready to be cleaned. But I quickly wanted to freshen my face and hair and brush my teeth, so I go to the bathroom floor to do that and by the time I give my locker keys, it is 10:20. The guy at the counter does not hesitate a single second : « you’re checking out late so you need to pay a fee ». Huh? I’ve left my room 30 minutes ago, I just needed some freshening and because I’m dropping the keys to my locker 20 minutes after time, you make me pay? I was seething. First time ever in 28 yrs this happens. If a guest is troublesome and refuses to leave their room and stays there for hours more, OK. But just DROPPING MY LOCKER KEYS 20 MINUTES late ?? But then, to absolutely crown it all, I ask if I can at least leave my heavy luggage somewhere while I go out for a bit. The guy instantly begins to chuckle uncomfortably « yes but then you need to pay 1000 Yen for a locker ». SAY WHAT? So I tell him, no no I’m not going to pay a single Yen more, just give me a corner where I can lay my luggage, I don’t need a locker or anything. His reply « you cannot leave your luggage after check-out ». Are you actually kidding me? This place is huge, you have luggage and stuff lying everywhere against the walls and on the floor, and you « cannot » keep my luggage? 1 star review. Tip for you : the hotel is open access, so just leave all your stuff somewhere on a floor and give the keys, that way no fees and you’ll have a place for your luggage. Screw them.
The location is great. And the overall experience isn’t terrible. (No pictures because I didn’t plan on leaving a review until it happened at check-out.)

Capsule itself was fine, clean and the bedding seemed fine however the rest of the areas weren't well maintained and had an odd odour. Never visited the sauna or bathing facilities.

I had a good time staying at this capsule hostel. You get the chance to learn the ways of the Japanese by using their Spa and Sauna. (They have cold and hot spa) For ladies, they have a separate area for shower. This is very close to the Otsuka station which is very convenient. 7/11 is also close by and Mcdonald's is beside it. The capsule bed is comfy enough where you can charge your phone, rest and relax. The staff is amazing too. You get to have your own locker so your capsule space is not cramped with stuff. You can leave your luggage with the staff if you need to. There are lounge wear available where you can use it while inside the area.

AustraliaThe functionality is poor, with facilities split between multiple levels and multiple lifts. The majority of the staff have very limited English and require a convoluted process to gain entry. The cleanliness is lacklustre, I found an ear cleaner under my matress. I had a poor experience of people filming in the shower, which was apparently given approval by the owner who did not inform any of the guests who do not speak Japanese.
The location in Otsuka is nice and convenient, very close to the train station.
