Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

JapanIt was further than I thought from Kumamoto station. It is better to take the bus just in case it rains heavily.
There were free amenities, towels and pajamas. There is a safe to keep valuables safe. It is near the castle, Kumamoto square and food places.

JapanIt is an older capsule hotel, so the capsules and a lot of things are a little aged. The towel(s) they provided for the bath area were small, cheap and not very effective.
It is really close to the shopping street, so the location is good. For the price, it wasn't bad overall, just don't expect too much.

FranceA capsule hotel that does what it was meant too. Please note that you need to check-out every day before 10AM and check-in again after 3PM, meaning put all your stuff in your locker and leave an empty capsule for cleaning purposes. Also note that the shared bathroom is an Onsen. So you need to be ok with that. I didn't see if there were any other private options, but I don't think so. Also the Onsen mentions no tattoo inside. I did not have some myself, so I don't know what's your option if you have some. Other than that, people were friendly and helpful during my stay and the bed was soft. I recommend staying here for a quick stay, not a long one (what was the capsule hotel was meant for after all)

United StatesProbably the best location to stay in Kumamoto being situated in an active shopping arcade and also being about 10 minutes walk away from Kumamoto Castle. The overall capsule hotel has a dated feel, like it was established in the 80s or 90s, but I found it quite charming. There was even an old karaoke machine booth on the fourth floor. New towels and pajamas are provided every day. Each capsule bed has one outlet and a TV. There is also ventilation but many people may not realize it because there’s a button on the bottom of the ventilation system that you have to switch on, which can be hard to see. There also might be some confusion for those unfamiliar with capsule hotels. You have to leave your key at the front desk every time you leave and then pick it up when you return. You also have to leave the capsule beds from 10 AM to 3 PM every day when they do cleaning. There is only public bath and so some people may not be comfortable having to shower with other people. Overall, I enjoyed my time here and would stay again if I come back to Kumamoto.

DenmarkHotel is nice, room (twin) was clean and well equipped, even came with several hygiene products for men. Very comfortable for spending the nights while doing other activities during the day. Staff were friendly, although not English speaking when I checked in. My main issue - and what affects the rating - is that you have to leave the hotel between 10 am and 3 pm, unless you’re willing to spend an extra 1500 yen per day. I have not seen this before and it is an annoying complication. Furthermore, this rule is not advertised when booking a room/capsule - you only receive it after the booking has been made. I would recommend the hotel advertise this more clearly pre-bookings. I wouldn’t mind staying again, overall.

United KingdomThey only have a public bath which wasn't an issue but they don't allow tattoos and there is no other option to wash. I did speak to the receptionist and they allowed me to use the bath and showers the first night. This is more of a warning to anyone looking to stay here who has tattoos and wants to shower

FranceIf you book 2 nights, you cannot stay during the day unless you pay more (should be written when booking)! The mattress is very thin which makes the bed too hard and uncomfortable. The sheets were scratchy and the duvet didn't fit my whole body. The capsules do not have a door so there is a lot of noise because the corridor serves around 15 capsules.
Very clean, capsules are spacious with a little desk. Good Onsen and the staff is very helpful.

United KingdomThe quilt was a very small square. I had to sleep with it diagonal and choose whether I wanted my feet or my shoulders covered. The sheets were also quite scratchy. Although there is an eating room, nothing is provided except hot water and a microwave, so you'll need to bring your own cups, plates, cutlery etc.
The public bath was a very nice addition, with good toiletries. There was a bath around 40 degrees with both hot and cold taps; a cold dip bath; a vapor sauna and a (closed) stone sauna. There were also separate showers in the dormitory. Towels, pyjamas, hairbrush and toothbrush/paste are provided fresh each day. There was a locker large enough to fit a backpack in the private capsule, although if you stay multiple nights, you still return the key to the front desk when you leave between 10-3.

KazakhstanThe smell was not so good in the men's capsule room.
We stayed in a capsule, everything was nice except the smell in the men's capsule room, though women's part was absolutely good. My female friends were amazed by the facility and room. They loved it so much. The hotel was a very convenient place to stay, it had its own onsen and large kitchen. The facility itself is very nice and comfortable. The location is also close to the Castle, a 7 min walk.
