How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewOur stay at this property was absolutely wonderful. The villa is spacious, spotlessly clean, and located in a prime area—ideal for both relaxation and easy access to local attractions. Every essential amenity was thoughtfully provided, making it incredibly easy to settle in. We especially appreciated the clear English instructions for all appliances, which made everything simple to use. The overall setup was not only functional but also welcoming and accessible. The property manager/owner was outstanding—responsive, generous, and genuinely caring. One of the highlights was being given access to the private baths at a sister property, which was a truly luxurious experience. The location was great, Not too far from the main Centre of town. Bar Seven became our go-to spot for relaxing nightcaps, and there were plenty of great dinner options nearby—GINA Pizza was a standout favorite! Highly recommended for anyone seeking a stay that combines comfort, convenience, and exceptional service.

Verified reviewThe property is spacious, spotlessly clean, and at a prime location. You are provided with all necessary amenities. We travelled with my 1.5 year old and a 75 year old. Everything we needed was available. Instructions in English were provided for the appliances. The property manager/owner was very responsive and generous. Not only did he arrange for us to use the private baths at the sister property, he also drove us to the train station! Regarding location, we absolutely loved the nearby cafe Utsuroi Tsuchiya Annex (we had their their French Toast for breakfast three times!). We also loved Bar Seven for night caps.

Verified reviewSuperb apartment in Kinosaki Onsen. For a family Of 5 it was perfect with lots of room for sleeping and luggage. Bathroom was excellent and a well equipped kitchen was appreciated. The check in process was simple. Also approaches were the free yukata (traditional Japanese bathrobe) which we used to attend the local hot spring bathhouses throughout the town.

Verified reviewThe location was great for us--it was just a block or two from the busy section of the town, so it was quiet and restful. It's a big space for Japan, and it had everything--a washer and dryer combination, a kitchen, a bath and shower, a place to relax.

Verified reviewIt was the perfect location to all the Onsens and the gondola. The owner runs a crab shop below the Airbnb and the crabs are immaculate. He provides you with robes to wear which was a great experience to indulge in the culture. 10000/10 highly recommend.

Verified reviewModern flat, designed and furnished meticulously. Very comfortable home base during our visit, I only wish we had more time to stay. Immaculately kept, sparkling clean with everything our family of 4 needed. Friendly owner who was kind enough to drive us back to the train station so we didn’t get soaked in the rain. Highly recommended.

Verified reviewStaffs are very friendly & the apartment is very clean. It’s big enough for our family of 4 adults. We like the Yukata that they provided. We wear to go for onsen. We used google translate to communicate with staffs.
1. They didn’t responded my question after I booked if I can drop my luggages before check in. 2. Was waiting for instructions for check in,but is in Japanese. Hotel staffs in kyoto helped me to translate in English that they message in booking.com. It will be great if they can provide instructions in English.
