Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

It was in the heart of china town and it was a great location for easy access to great food and experiences. The owners were super kind and helpful and are great conversationalists! The facilities are well kept and very efficient given the amount of space they have.

if you want to stay close to china town, this is the place you can definitely explore. it located at the center of China town and lots of restaurants and food supply. It's a very cozy hostel where the host is super nice and genuinely welcoming. He can speak few languages which is easy to communicate. Even though the place is tiny but it has everything you need, a common area where you can sit and work and chill, locker to keep you bags / belongings, small kitchen but again it has everything you need like a mini fridge, a toaster, microwave, kettle, and a mini stove....This is one of the hostel i stayed which the overall area is soooo clean, including toilet & shower area. Only one thing is you need to be aware esp for those with luggage, you need to carry it upstairs but it's only a short walk. Overall, i would recommend this place if you want a cozy and convenient place to stay.

CanadaOne of the sinks struggled to make hot water while the others didn't.
Staff were fluent in English and friendly, and they made sure to show you around on intake. Bed was clean and comfy. Showers were hot, and shampoo and body wash are already in the showers. Literally in Chinatown so if you like Chinese food you're in the perfect location. Close to 2 train stations.

GermanyOne of my best experiences—if not the best—in a hostel. The owner is incredibly nice and helpful. Everything is very clean, cozy, lots of lovely detailed stuff, and everything you need is there. It was also very quiet. Everything was as described within the booking confirmation. If I ever come back to the area, I'll definitely book there again. Thank you for the great stay 🫶

Germany- not that it bothered me but the building is not too big so you need to arrange your stuff accordingly.
- Extremely cozy environment (honestly nice!) - comfy beds (can recommend 8D, bed above is unused and close to toilets and shower) - everyone takes care of being silent and respectful - super friendly owner - great location - extremely clean!!

JapanSome of the other travelers were a bit noisy after quiet time. Someone was packing/unpacking/repairing their suitcase in the common room at 1AM one night. Since my bed was against the wall of the common room, it was a bit irritating. But, that's just part of staying at a hostel and when I asked them to quiet down they did.
This was in an excellent location in Chinatown and within walking distance of many attractions. The hostel host was great to talk with and gave us some excellent recomendations! There were people from many different countries, so it was fun to chat in the common room during the day. The coffee shop on the lower floor was also very nice.

United KingdomIt isn't on the ground floor and no lift so carrying suitcases up and down the stairs is a bit of a hassle.
Friendly staff in a homey, unpretentious hostel. Turn a corner and you're in the bustling centre of Chinatown. Plenty of meal choices and close to trains and buses.

GermanyActually I loved the hostel! Except for nine hours, it was kind of my first hostel experience and I was totally content! There is only a few things that I didn't like: 1) the pillows of the beds were to strong and high, so I didn't use them much except for leaning against the wall. 2) everything is in one room, so you hear everything. Luckily, I had good roommates though, so it was okay for me. 3) The air in the hostel was often quite used and smelly and there is very limited amounts of windows (that you can open at least). Some fresher air would be nice. And it's not a bad thing per se, but just sth you should be aware of. The hostel is tiny! So there is not much space in general. Also there is a steep stairway to enter the hostel.
The Chillulu Hostel was great. Super central in China Town. I guess the most important information for me would be: SLEEPING The beds were comfortable and warm and surrounded my walls. At the end of the bed you have a curtain for more privacy. I especially liked that there is also a small mirror incorporated in your "room"/bed, so technically, you could make your hair/make-up there. Even though everyone sleeps in one room, beds are divided by men and women. SOCKETS There is two sockets at your bed and more in the common room. STORAGE Each person has their own bigger locker. You don't need to bring your own lock, there will be one there. Furthermore, there is space under the bed if you have the bottom bed. In my opinion, another perk of the bottom bed is that you have some space between the head of the bed and the wall to store smaller items like a small backpack. This space can only be reached if you are in your bed. If you have the top bed, you have more head space though which is also nice. For bigger items, you can use the common space and also store them there after check-out if you let the staff know in advance. WIFI The WiFi was great and super fast! I actually had the impression that it's even better than my WiFi at home. KITCHEN There is a small kitchen that you can use. I didn't use it much, but as far as I remember it had a microwave, an electric kettle, a small pot and an induction (?) hot plate. You are also provided with free coffee powder there. LAUNDRY There is a washing machine and a dryer you can use (you need your own detergent however). It's coin machines. Washing costs 200 Yen, drying 100 Yen. However, my clothes weren't 100% dry so you might have to do the drying twice (or I just used the wrong settings?). COMMON SPACE There is a small common space which is very cozy. You can use it any time. However, you are only allowed to make noise between 08:00 and 22:00 which is fair in my opinion.
