How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewExcellent value for money, would stay again! The AC was strong enough even in the August heat, the beds were quite comfortable, and the kitchen has a fridge, microwave, water kettle, dishes and cups to use. The storage lockers are a bit too small for suitcases but those on the bottom bunk can store them under the bed. The hosts are quite friendly and helpful in recommending things to do, and are fluent in English, Japanese, and Mandarin Chinese
You will definitely want earplugs (provided for free at the counter) because the space is open and other guests can be somewhat noisy at night drying their hair or even doing laundry. In addition, because there is only 1 bathroom each and 2 shower stalls, there may be a line during nighttime busy hours.

Verified reviewOnly The location is very good but the property is not good at all
Attention ‼️ People please be careful ‼️ This place is actually not a hostel it’s a cafe & restaurant Only the second floor of this place with about 8 bunk beds and one toilet each one shower in the same room 🤧 There's no socializing room there’s no kitchen there’s no space to walk or talk ‼️ Don’t waste your time and money please 💰 I’m giving you a free advice that cost me money and time
Thank you for your stay and review. So sorry if you don’t like our place. You're right about the most part. That's why we posted about it on the booking site in advance. If you had noticed, this outcome might have been avoided. This is a hostel with minimal facilities, but some people still like it. We'll continue to work hard for that. Thank you for your comment.

Verified reviewThe hostel was clean, the beds were comfortable. All necessities were available (shampoo, towel, fridge, drinking water, etc.). The location was perfect.
The space is really, really small. If you are in an upper bunk bed, there is practically no space available at all to put a big backpack or suitcase. There are lockers, but your bigger luggage won't fit. In the bed there is also no space to put your phone, a book or a bottle of water. It's just a bit impractical and for me this caused some irritations.

Verified reviewThe owner was nice and helped us check in remotely when we ran into some issues that led to us arriving late after check in time and gave me some coconut biscuits the next morning when we spoke in person for the first time :) I found the beds comfortable, everything was clean and the accommodation served my needs as an out-and-about tourist well. I was happy to stay here and would recommend it to people doing the same kind of tourism as I did (out most of the day, back to sleep, rest and maybe have a snack). It's located in Yokohama's Chinatown so it was great to get food earlier in the morning before it started getting busier. It's also just a very fun area to wander around when it's busy. It was a short walk to the metro to get to other areas too so it worked very well for me and my travel companion.
Nothing majorly wrong here in my experience, pretty great hostel all around :) If anything the other guests stayed up late chatting one night but that's not the owners fault. I personally found the pillow a little bit hard. Some things that were not an issue for me but may be so for others are that 1) there is very limited storage space. You can use the space under the bunk bed you're assigned and you are also given a locker to use, but if you have a lot of luggage or irregularly shaped luggage you may need to pay to get it stored in the partner cafe downstairs. 2) there's a lot of sunlight coming in in the morning (I was here in summer).

Verified reviewThe hostel was really nice and the couple managing it were extremely helpful and kind. Everything was clean and proper.
We were not really lucky as someone was strongly snoring next to us and was making it difficult to sleep.

Verified reviewIt was in the heart of china town and it was a great location for easy access to great food and experiences. The owners were super kind and helpful and are great conversationalists! The facilities are well kept and very efficient given the amount of space they have.
It was a bit far from any metro stations but if you don’t mind the walk it’s not the worst thing to happen

Verified reviewVery calm and quiet
Bottom bunk beds have a tray to hold bedside items but top bunks do not. There was enough space for me (5'7", US med shirt, 32 w 30 l pants) to leave some items pullow side but still not ideal
