Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

BelgiumVery comfortable family room. Good dinner in the café. It made us regret we could not taste the breakfast :-) (the café was closed).

United StatesI think the lounge areas could have been a little more comfortable/cozy or have more open seating, it was mostly stools outside of the room and in the shared room there were only two sofa chairs, so it was hard to really sit anywhere other than your bed. Also, the location was a little farther out from the bike route (around half an hour after getting off the bridge) so it took a little time to get there.
I stayed here for one night while i was biking the shiminami kaido. It was a cute little hostel and had everything I needed, and also the free breakfast from the cafe was very good too! The bed and bathroom/showers were clean too. It's also right next to the shrine so you can explore that as well as the art museum.

United StatesWe stayed in the private family room. There was one large bed and two futons. The futons are extremely thin and the sleeping area is a hardwood floor. For our adult kids, it was like sleeping on directly on the floor so be warned.
Very clean, nice hosts, great shared kitchen. Lawsons is nearby. The cafe has yummy food.

United KingdomThe kitchen is quite small, only suitable for making something simple or reheating ready cooked food from the convenience store nearby.
Clean and spacious hostel with everything you need - towels, toothpaste, ear plugs, hairdryer - at no extra cost. They also have a washing machine and tumble dryer for a very small notional fee, exactly what we needed arriving at the hostel soaking wet from the cycle.

PolandNo options for vegans in the restaurant.
Nice, boutique place, with clean toilets and rooms. Not a kind of hostel with wide room but you have to remember that it is located in old Japanese house.

CanadaThe location is slightly off the beaten path and will require some navigation and uphill cycling.
Amazing place, a true hidden gem. We ended up needing a place to sleep while doing the Shinanamikaido cycling route and looked for a nice cheap option. After cycling through the sleepy rural Japanese countryside we made it to the hostel, finding it quite easily. The staff checking us in was very helpful and had great English, the whole process taking about 5 minutes. The common areas were clean and filled with appliances, board games and a nice manga collection. The room was quiet and the bunks spacious, slept better than I have in some hotels. Breakfast was great too and they offer free coffee in the shared space. There’s a beautiful shrine and Lawson convenience store nearby so you will be able to enjoy the location and stock up for the rest of your journey.

Had a fantastic space at a very good price. Even the location was much better than my original choice (Kamiuracho Inokuchi), with a lot of dining options and Oyamazumi Shrine nearby.

United KingdomSome sound leakage as rooms are close together in the compact living spaces, however guests were typically quiet after 9pm.
A quaint little pitstop along the Shimanami Kaido, with great amenities for cyclists along the route (including laundry and kitchen). The restaurant-café also looked wonderful, although I didn't get a chance to try it. The nearby sights (shrines, brewery, salt factory and onsen) make it a perfect touristy break and night's stay. I would come here again, absolutely!

South KoreaMake sure to check when the cafe itself is open because we didn't realise it would be closed on the day we stayed here.
We stayed here for one night after a full day of cycling and it was a lovely place to recharge for an evening. The bed was super comfy and the facilities were all very clean. We used the travelling without baggage system and when we arrived our bags were already up in our room and they even told us just to leave them there after we checked out and they would deal with taking them back downstairs. Seeing as we were exhausted from cycling it was such a nice detail for them to do the heavy lifting for us!

JapanIt would be nicer if there was a small desk or a shelf to put our things in the room. We had to place our bags and everything on the floor directly. however, the room and the floor were all very clean.
The facility was clean. All the staff we met were nice. We enjoyed our dinner at the bar and also their breakfast was great for the beginning of the cycling day.

AustraliaThe location of the stay is in Omishima Island. You will have to ride about 5km in the island explorer trail from the shimanami trail to get here (a few minor hills to climb).
Did the shimanami kaido cycling trail from Onomichi and decided to spend a night half way in between the journey. Nice, clean and the most helpful staff you can ask for. Also provided free breakfast the following morning which gave me plenty of energy to complete the route.

United KingdomNothing.
The hostel was stylish, clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming. There were good facilities for storing bikes safely overnight. The hostel was a bit of a detour from the main Shimanami Kaido route, although it was very conveniently located next to the Oyamazumi Shrine and treasure hall.

New ZealandNothing to not like. It was a wee bike from Sedoka but we thought this spot looked nicer .
Lovely vibe. Very beautifully done up, great kitchen and sparkling clean showers. Room wasn't super large maybe compared to similar priced places in a city, but it was totally fine and a great place. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was available in attached cafe and they were really good. There didn't seem a lot of places to eat in town, so we enjoyed this spot a few times. Interesting place to bike around on a spare day we had. Highly recommend

A wonderful find with a comfortable and cozy bedroom. I was the only guest the night I was staying, but the common areas seemed really fun. The surrounding town itself is surprisingly lively, and I ran into the guesthouse's owner at the excellent izakaya Kitsune no Botan. :)
