Meals were exceptional at Suigan and we were able to experience excellent meals at Suizan, sister hotel in town, at no extra charge. The peaceful setting exceeded my expectations. I especially loved hearing the Toyohira river behind our ryokan. The pantry of snacks, drinks, and amenities was a pleasant surprise. There was plenty of room for myself and my 3 adult children. We could spread out when needed and have our own quiet space during our stay. The staff was accommodating and showed us where to go and what to see from day 1.

Sometimes taxi service was challenging when we booked on our own. Although beautiful and filling, breakfast and dinner was the same daily.

the room is very comfortable, great onsen, great food, an excellent place to stay, and it's so quiet and peaceful, you are completely undisturbed.

Privacy

There was no one to help move the luggage to the room on the second floor. At this price, we believe this service should be included.

Very unique accommodation, you may have to cook dinner and breakfast by yourself from the prepared food boxes, but the ingredients are superb! The room and private onsen in the room is superb! Love everything in this place (not sure what to call this place, Hotel? Ryokan? Resort?) But anyway, highly recommended.

A bit far from public transportation, so we rent a car and drove to the hotel. But that wasn't an issue, just want to point out for other people how want to stay at Suigan. By the way there is no elevator so packed light, I had to carry heavy suitcases to 3rd floor, that's not good.

Room 101 was incredible. The bath which is exposed to the outdoors felt amazing during heavy snow. We also enjoyed the sauna and of course the perfect shabu-shabu dinner and the fresh local breakfast. Unlimited snacks and drinks were nice, too. The receptionist was super helpful and considerate. The room was huge for a couple, very clean and comfortable.

First class room with attached onsen . Privacy guaranteed .

Nothing much really except wasn’t too impressed with the half board . The kaiseki dinner on the second night was average . Breakfast was good but not extraordinary. .

The staff was very caring. The room was beautiful and comfortable. Access to free drinks and snacks. The food was delicious.

Our in-room dinner was not possible due to the chef being out of town, but they substituted it with a 10-course meal at their sister facility down the street. It was unforgettable! The room experience and the onsen were fantastic, as was the in-room breakfast
