Handy location to explore Takayama. We rented one of the rooms as a private family room and it worked great for a family.

I don't know if it was the golden week holiday, but there was an entire 24 hour period where the hostel wasn't cleaned at all during our stay. Many guests were sick with colds, and so it meant by the second morning of our stay there were bins overflowing with used (infectious) tissues and the sink areas were extremely dirty.

Lovely little hostel in close proximity to the old parts of town, but shielded away from the big crowds. The staff were awesome and very laid back. The beds were some of the comfiest hostel beds I've ever stayed in with spacious pods. Theres also a nice, tattoo-friendly sento across the road which is a good experience after a long day of walking.

Kitchen was very basic, but still worked. It was small, but it worked. We were there for 4 nights and it really seemed small by the last night. But for a 2-3 night stay, or 1 night, fabulous.

very comfortable and clean beds, very clean toilets and showers with loads of hot water (if you didn't want to use the fabulous puclib bath house across the road) and floors. Location was very convenient to everything.

cleanliness can be improved

Mix up with The Cup of Ensemble location.. The lady staff is very helpful to clarify and offer other alternatives. Good experience of staying in a guesthouse(hostel) for a change.

Not sure about security as there was no specific person attending checkin or check out... there is always some working team at the commune area... not sure if they are from the property or something else

Location was excellent. Very near the morning markets. It was at a quiet corner. The aesthetics of the property were great. Love it.

The description of the japanese style room is a bit confusing. It should make it clear for guests that both kitchen and bathroom are shared. The “room facilities” section when clicking on the type of room is misleading.

The staff was really nice and had very good english. The futon was very comfortable and is placed in a good location. Good value for money.

The room could use a bit of furniture to hang clothes on, it also had a bit too much dust when we arrived. The rest of the people in the place was really noisy at night, closing the doors in the communal area works but I feel that signaling to the guest to remain silent during late hours is needed.

It’s in a good location, the staff was very friendly! Check in was smooth, it also has post checkout luggage storage. Also in front of a public onsen!

The cell was accessible by a long ladder.. I am 191 cm/6' 3" tall and my weigh is 120 kg. The problem was with the way down, because the design of the cells is not designed for such a large and heavy person. It was not possible to choose the space I was allocated.

Location is short walking distance to all the main attractions in town. Place is really well kept and comfy and mattresses were good too even though they were on the floor and I was a bit skeptic at first! I’d come back

Wanted to do my laundry but there was no dryer available. A few close by laundromats within a few minutes walking distance.

Came for the Takayama festival - managed to get this accommodation last minute. Glad this place was on offer. It was a nice, clean and great place to stay as a solo traveller.

The only problem was that the AC was not working properly on my 2nd and 3rd night. I didn't sleep well. I informed the staff about this. The AC controller should be left in the room so the guests can adjust the room temperature.

Bed was comfortable, there is privacy for each bed as it was covered with thick curtain. Clean towel, shampoo, body soap and conditioner were also provided. There is a public bath in tront of the hostel, you will get a 20 yen discount by presenting your hostel key. The bath house doesn't provide for towel and soap, the hostel prepared soap and shampoo for guests you can also bring your towel.

Only 1 toilet, 1 sink, and 2 showers for several people is a bit inconvenient (or, are there washing facilities in the dorms also?)

Great location. Not far from the old town. Comfortable. We had one of the larger rooms, not a dorm bed. Appreciated the coffee in the morning as well as the locks to keep luggage.
