The breakfast and dinner were amazing - not only was the food good, there was A LOT of food, and the staff was very friendly. The ryokan is in a good location to access other attractions (by car). Having a soak in the onsen was a good way to end the day.

    1. The location was wonderful: a quaint little town with lots to do/see. The hotel itself was a quick walk from a JR train station. 2. The staff were very kind! 3. They offered complimentary beverages and snacks in the lobby after 1400~

We had the open air onsen room which was surrounded in part by a large glass window. Though the glass appeared to have something on it to obscure visibility (slightly obsolete because they ask you to open the window to help ventilate the spring water) and the room faced the mountain, it still seemed pretty see-through and there were a few buildings within eyeshot. My work around was to shower/bathe in the dark which added to the soothing ambiance.

Meals arrangement for breakfast and dinner.

Wash basin (lower part) and bath tub. Deep cleaning is necessary.

Great staff, great traditional breakfast. The room was super clean and wide with a view on the waterfall in front of the ryokan.

We really enjoyed the onsen but half of our time there, the water was literally burning us, so we could not enjoy it. We would have appreciated a notice to warn us upfront or alternative solutions to enjoy the baths anyway, especially since we had to book our slot in advance to have access to the private bath.

Excellent breakfast, traditional onsen with modern art design. Very relaxing.

The onsen/ hot spring is small.

Very friendly staff on front desk. Exceptional multi course dinner available on 3F restaurant is worth extra and likely better than anything available in town. Dress in your yukata provided downstairs outside lift. Elegant pre-dinner drinks and snacks free on ground floor with view of waterfall. Public bath immediately accessible from inside ryokan. Japanese style breakfast also excellent.

Check-in strictly after 1500, there will be no staff evident anywhere before then.

    The view

Food portion was way too small and over-priced. Onsen was small and did not look very clean. The ice cream was too hard to chew.

The hot water in the private shower was unstable. Aside from that, the experience was excellent.

The staff was very helpful and with excellent English. I had a room in traditional Japanese style, it was huge and comfortable (unless you don't like sleeping on futon). I couldn't go to onsen , but it seemed really nice. And they have really good cosmetics in the bathroom.

The google map does not accurately indicate the location.

    1. Friendly and hospitable staff, esp. the receptionist at the front desk (always ready to help) 2. Large comfy room 3. Walkable distance to the JR station (though going uphill) 4. Free entry ticket to an old communal onsen nearby

    1. Dinner portion was small

My room was exceptionally spacious. it was perfect to lounge around in on resting days. loved the outdoor onsen, it was a perfect treat! close to a few local eateries which I loved. My heating stopped working and I was promptly supplied with another heater.

hmmm I was hoping to get breakfast and dinner , but all good. ( see below) are there any tips on ordering breakfast and dinner while booking on this platform? the sulphur smell around the property can get overwhelming but you get used to it. After all, it IS an onsen town

the dinner was good value to the money.

seemed not ready for the re-open of Japan as they didn't have enough basket for carrying towel to onsen for every room.

Very good location, 5-7 min. walk to the train station. Japanese style onsen, very nice outdoor bath, rotenburo. The room was very spacious, with tatami mats and beds. Very nice breakfast, Japanese style, freshly cooked rice individually in separate steel pots, delicious, the rest as well (I did not have dinner as I arrived late). Free drinks in the lounge. There is a bus from near the train station to the Naruko gorge, so it was convenient to leave my baggage in the hotel, go for the sightseeing, then come to pick up the baggage and get on the train. Friendly staff.

The Google maps showed me wrong direction so it took me sometime to find the place, although it is only 5-7 min from the station. This is not of course the hotel's fault.

The hotel is located right in the center of town so it was easy to walk everywhere. The futons were more like mini-mattresses, so they were very comfy. Our stay included breakfast and dinner - the dinners were amazing! The kaiseki meal was beautifully presented and every bite was delicious! The first floor lounge was comfortable with happy hour beverages available for guests.

The public onsen doesn't allow tattoos so we reserved the private onsen, but the water was so scalding hot that we couldn't enjoy it.
