A hidden little gem that will give you the classic Japanese onsen experience

First of all, none of the staff can speak any English whatsoever. On the upside, this means that you will have a chance to practice some Japanese. The building and room are both also a bit on the older side of things, but still well-maintained, and no mould or anything like that. Both inside and outside it looks like a stereotypical "onsen-hotel" you might see in Japanese media, so I would call it charming, and the WiFi is 5G (and a lot better than what I got last time I went to the states and stayed at a fancy new hotel). The location is a bit rural, but once again, could be seen as charming rather than off-putting.

To start with, the room was really big, with a nice (limited) seaside view, and the public onsen was as you should expect from a proper Japanese onsen hotel. Private onsens available, alongside a scenic cave, and the usual entertainment you would find in a ryokan or similar. Free parking and free WiFi, plus decent breakfast, and impeccable service from staff. All at a very sensible price.
