This accommodation has an izakaya on the 1st floor with amazing food.

Please be advised that if you travel by train, its schedule is very limited.

Note: this accommodation is not in Gero City but a city about 20 min train ride away. The owner is incredibly kind and welcoming - we shared great conversation and laughter Very good room for the price Comfortable Great food and social atmosphere

Room didn’t have a lock but it’s japan… Cmon. You don’t really need one

Authentic experience with awesome rooms, convenient location in the heart of town, very well maintained, extremely helpful and friendly staff who provide excellent tips for your stay and are happy to engage in conversation, clean shared bathrooms (yes, there is a shower space, not just a toilet), peaceful and quiet, delicious food and great drinks in the ground floor izakaya, with a nice breakfast also served at a requested time. Main entrance is locked after midnight, did not experience any security concerns whatsoever.

Absolutely loved every aspect, no downsides in my experience.

The room was decent, traditional tatami room. The breakfast was also nice.

We stayed in the large 4 person room and it was extremely tough to sleep. This place is above an izakaya restaurant and not at all good for resting. The house rules state that quiet hours are from midnight to 6am but It was very loud with people yelling and chatting all night. My wife went downstairs to ask about the noise and if they could keep it down but the staff was very dismissive and told her that the Izakaya stays open all night and there's nothing they can do. The loud noise and talking continued until after 2am. The door to the room was made of paper and there was no lock at all so we didn't feel very safe. The entire hotel has only 1 bathroom and there are about 5 rooms so we were sharing with everyone staying there. There was no shower or bath facilities either. Overall this was a terrible experience for us, we really don't think the advertisement adequately described the experience of staying at this place. We thought it was extremely unfair to have house rules that the hosts themselves don't abide by and the amenities were sorely lacking.

Such a lovely stay! It felt like coming home. We loved the room with the projector, the futons were very comfy and dinner at the Izakaya downstairs was delicious. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. We only wished we had stayed longer to explore Gero and enjoy the hospitality!

    Nothing.

It was very traditional. I loved the authenticity of the room. Bamboo floor mats, wooden doors and low ceilings.

The (male) host was not welcoming at all. It is very noisy because downstairs functions as a bar. 1 bathroom for multiple rooms.

A superb stay with a convenient Izakaya located on the first floor.

The room was nice and the futon confortable, the owners have a very decent English, and the izakaya they manage on the first floor has good alcohol and incredible mood !! We didn't try the food but if we ever visit again we definitely will ! We also made some great encounters at the izakaya which leave us with fond memories of the place ! Thanks for everything :)

We expected to stay in an Japanese Style "Ryokan" and were absolutely blown away with the experience. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, they cooked great food and some locals were having a drink in the evening where the mood was fantastic. We really enjoyed our stay there and have already decided, if we will be able to come to Japan again, we will visit this nice place again.

The room was very nice and clean, the beds were comfortable. Breakfast and dinner was delicious and the hosts were taking great care of us, and making sure we were comfortable.

The inn was also an izakaya, and you had to walk through the bar to reach the shower room. You had to let the hosts know every day at what time you would return, since the inn would be locked during the day and you didn't get any keys.

The first floor is an Izakaya and the second floor is made into a 4-room stay. It has a lovely design and it's obviously just furnished with new appliances. The breakfast was delicious and prepared for us on time.

There are no shoe racks where you can leave your shoes overnight. As it's necessary to take them off, we had to put them aside as there were many other locals visiting the Izakaya on the first floor. The paper that we had to fill out with our personal information for the stay was left for all to see on the front desk. Later, my partner had to warn them to put it away as quite a few customers saw our personal information, including the address. The room had no space to put our luggage and worst of all, it had no lock. Just sliding doors and a curtain for privacy. Despite the small space, the floor was dirty and one of the futons had strange hairs and even a single slipper that they've "lost". We let them know about it, and one of the ladies apologised and told us to wait for the owner as she would let him know. Waited some 30 minutes, told us they would exchange the sheets and that also took another 30 minutes. The floor still remained dirty. Overall, for the price we've paid, it was ridiculous. It's expensive for the location, 30 minutes away by JR from the Gero Onsen village. Unprofessional and dirty, no basic amenities we can use.

The owner was really friendly and kind. There is only one train route per hour in the area (no taxi btw) so he reminded me carefully to check the train schedule when I went out at night. He also gave me his contact, in case I couldn't catch the last train, I could call have him to pick up! They run an Izakaya on the first floor, open till mid night and the atmosphere is super cozy. The food and service,I have nothing to say but excellent 👍

I just wish there was a hand soap as I go to toilet pretty much lol
