Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesLoved my experience here as a solo traveler. It's a few minute walk from the station. Its clean, quiet, and the breakfast was 😋 delicious. I rented a bike to look around the area. The area was really cute and non-touristy. The host went out of her way to help me rent a bike, find ways to a nearby sento, and wrote down on a piece of paper about what to say when I walk into an izakaya with only locals! I didn't have a lot of time this time to do stuff, but I would love to be back to try more travel recs from the host!

ItalyThe host is the best! She made sure I had all the information I needed to visit the area, and the home-cooked Japanese breakfast was delicious!. The guesthouse is spotless. It felt like I was living in my "aunt's" house. I am glad i had the chance to sleep in a real futon, so conformable and simple. The only female adult vibe energy recharged my batteries 🖤 Yes, the guesthouse is far from Osaka center (40/50 min by Public transport)but honestly, i didn't care at all. I have nothing but good things to say about this guesthouse. Thank you very much! Laura 😊

ChileChica is the nicest and the welcoming person. The house is in perfect condition and everything is super clean. At night she even gave me a hot water bottle which was really nice. On my second day I was lucky enough to be the only one staying there and I got the chance to have a tour of the town with Chica. I really liked staying here and I totally recommend it.

Abkhazia, GeorgiaHonestly I can't think about anything bad, I think the location is not a bad part because otherwise you'll never have an occasion to visit this beautiful village
The best guest house I have ever stayed at !!! It was a whole experience in itself, Chika's house is very traditional (absolutely beautiful) but modern and clean. Chika's English is super good and she knows many things about her village and Japanese culture. She is very helpful and replies fast even when I did a late checkout. For 3 days I felt like I had a new family, we were all friends and spent hours watching TV and chatting all together. Breakfast is also amazing and the town had Animal Crossing vibes because everyone is so friendly. There are delicious local bakeries and restaurants as well as traditional handmade gift shops, all settled in traditional houses. This is far from the touristic non authentic experience you can have in the famous cities around. I can't wait to come back💗

GermanyTondabayashi has so many beautiful and traditional houses and is surrounded by many unknown towns and villages that are definitely worth a visit. Osaka is also only an hour away. The owner is so kind and nice! She always helped me plan my next trips and even gave me a tour through the down. Her attention to detail and personal touch definitely made my first solo trip the best it could have been! The traditional house also had really clean and modern facilities. If you want to explore Japan off the beaten track, this is the perfect accommodation for you!

AustraliaI like everything about the stay. At first we were a little surprised to share the bedroom with another guest but it was not a problem as everyone is quiet and respectful.
Great location in Jinaimachi, Tondabayashi. Beautiful old buildings and atmosphere like Kyoto! Host was super friendly, helpful and attentive to our needs.

United StatesCultural preservation neighborhood. A lovely guesthouse. 2nd time, both times I stayed 3 nights. Run by a wonderful very experienced host. She connected me with many great cultural experiences including transportation details. I can't read Japanese so her translation to English smooths my travel in the area and beyond. And the futons are luxuriously thick. I sleep deeply there. I highly recommend.

United StatesBesides being a very good host, the owner was knowledgeable about the history and traditions of the whole area. The buildings in this neighborhood are part of cultural renewal. It feels like stepping back in time. I ordered okonomiyaki for dinner one evening and she prepared it at the table! She explained many traditional things like drinking a sweet rice bran drink at new years time, and I asked her about other things, like about the relationship between buddhism and shintoism. She reads and researches and had interesting things to tell about this and many other things. Chiyako-san really treats this calling as a deep craft and has been running this guest house for 8 years. There are both modern parts of the house (a western-style modern sitting room, and bathroom and shower areas, kitchen) and traditional rooms: tatami floor dining room with low table, futon on tatami sleeping area, sliding doors. The sleeping area was very comfortable. I slept deeply. The futons were wonderfully full and warm, and the blankets were also fluffy, full and warm. It was late December to early January, cold outside, and it was great to slide into the warmth. I slept deeply. Good for solo travelers, max. guests is 5. Chiyako-san advised me on many things, for instance the best ways to get around on the many trainlines, a pottery show in Osaka, a park/walking area by the river. This was my first trip to Japan, so this was much needed help. I was there for 5 days and I especially enjoyed how she was equally friendly and welcoming to the many visitors who also passed through during that time. There was a lot of laughter. All the visitors at the time were Japanese, but most spoke some English. This made a very soft-landing for me, in a place where I couldn't speak or read the language. Short straight walk to the train station so you can can get deep into Osaka on the train in an hour. Nishikori Park is also beautiful

South KoreaIf you want to have an experience of japanese room style like me or saving your accomodation cost during the high rental demand in osaka then this place will fit to you well. the place is very far from the dowtown, i spent around 40 minutes to 1 hour by train for moving and you have to pay the extra fee although using the amazing osaka pass. The transportation to this accomodation is free only when you are using the kansa passi thrus
