How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewOnce I figured out the location, it was convenient and quiet at night. Nice! The bed was comfortable and the front desk staff friendly and professional. The room was a good size.

Verified reviewSheraton’s budget hotel is within easy walking distance of Yokohama’s typically wonderful rail station and it sits at a main road junction in a bustling, busy part of the city with plenty of Japanese restaurants around. Value is impressive and rooms are large for city centre Japanese hotels, which tend to allow less than a full sized cat to be swung. The hotel staff are, in Japanese fashion, supremely friendly and helpful. If you are planning on a short stop in Yokohama before an onward train journey (and the Saphir Odoriko to Shimoda is well worth considering), this would make a very good value hotel, but read on……
The only downside for us were the breakfast arrangements. We paid in advance for breakfast, expecting perhaps a normal hotel restaurant with the usual buffet breakfast so that we could pick and choose. Instead, the hotel uses a kind of canteen arrangement on the ground floor, serving four set menu options prepared on a tray that you collect from the kitchen counter, all of which are for the Japanese taste and might therefore not suit someone wanting a typical western breakfast. That said, the corn broth was something we had never tried at breakfast and was delicious, as was shredded cabbage, and the hybrid omelette/scrambled eggs served with it were perfectly cooked. Good coffee and reasonable fruit juice came from machines. Our advice would be either to give it a go for the experience of breakfasting differently or to research finding somewhere close that will supply something you are used to. We’re glad we gave it a go, but it might not suit everyone.

Verified reviewStaff was extremely nice and professional. The breakfast provided, via token to downstairs commercial resturant, was very convenient and nice.
The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable, and the pillows were very thick and large (not in a nice way). We found that we could not sleep with the pillows provided, which were just too thick. The room was very, very small. However it was clean. There was a window in the room but the adjacent building was only about 30 cm away so you could not open the window, and the view was only a brick wall.

Verified reviewConvenient
I booked 2 twin rooms for 4 persons. However to my alarm the hotel told me I booked 2 twin rooms for 2 persons. In total I have 4 bookings for my trip to Japan. I did not have any booking issue except for this hotel. I do not understand how 2 persons per room can end up as 1 person per room. Why would I book twin rooms for only 1 person. Whilst the hotel allowed 4 persons to stay without additional charge but not for breakfast which I would have to pay for the additional persons. I seek clarity from booking.com how this can happen. Is it a problem with the app. I have concerns about booking rooms with this platform if this can happen

Verified reviewI decided to spend a night in Yokohama rather than get into Tokyo really late at night after a trip south. I ended up picking this place because I read the rooms were new and soundproof (and I was kinda tired of listening to my hostel neighbours). They indeed were! I enjoyed the peace so much I came back for another night later in my trip to look around Yokohama a bit more. Very central location close to station hubs, malls, activities, everything (also quite lively at night). Room itself had a ton of pillows, kettle, mini fridge, and small soaker tub (not a full JP sized one, but still much deeper than I'm use to in NA). Yokohama was too much to explore in a single overnight stay, so I guess I'll have to stay longer on my next trip 😄
The room was pretty tight with a double bed, but it was fine for just me and my purse + shopping bags (and I did book it twice). Might be a little tight for anyone with a lot of luggage though.
