Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandThe hostess lady is from Taiwan and speaks Japanese and Mandarin, so that was very helpful for us. She was also very helpful providing information on the castle ruin and local attractions and restaurants. When we asked her if there was any place we could rent bikes to ride along the river, she offered her own bikes to us. We really loved staying here in Takeda. It's quiet, peaceful and beautiful. Everything we wanted in a small Japanese town experience.

United KingdomIt's ok for an overnight stop especially if you're getting up early the next day but I personally wouldn't want to stay longer than that!
Great location close to the station and very easy to get around Takeda. Host was also very friendly. She helped me book the early morning transfer to Ritsuunkyo which was very helpful.

AustraliaThere is no lock or keys for any doors or rooms, or even the front door. I know Japan is safe, but felt weird leaving all my valuables in my room when the front door to the house was unlocked all day.
Host was very responsive, but despite the language barrier no issue working with her. I'd all this more of a guest house than a hostel. It's simple, clean and comfortable, and only 3 minute walk to the station. I used it for my day trip to Takeda Castle and she provided me maps and helpful information.

PhilippinesBest stay I had in my holiday trip. I cannot overstate how accomodating and kind the owner is to their guests. Right at the heart of Takeda, walking distance from the station. Super clean and comfortable rooms. I wish I stayed a little longer. I'll be definitely coming back here.

JapanThe host was very nice, she asked if I was planning to go up to the ruins and gave me a map showing which routes were open and the time they took. She also told me most places were closed since I visited on a holiday and offered to drive me to the Konbini since it wasn’t very close. If you get a chance I couldn’t recommend having lunch at the attached cafe enough. It was perfect.

MalaysiaIf you have large luggage, its going to be hard climbing up the stairs. Not a big problem though. If they can have larger dressing window, would be great ^^ Also, you need to move downstairs to wash your face everytime. It would be great to equip one at the upper floor.
This is the 2nd time i came to Takeda and stayed at Fukunae. It was a pleasant and friendly stay and the host, Kitamura and Elie san were very nice and we had some nice chit chat too. The location is just 2 min walk from the station and if you cant find it, then you can walk for abt 100 m after exiting the station to your left and you will see Fukunae cafe. ** they also had a cafe ^^ Their homestay is behind the cafe. The town is very quiet and serene, and the bed is comfortable, making you relax with a great sleep at a mountainside atmosphere. Its a little pricey though, maybe because i had a double bed room. Highly recommended !!

TaiwanTakeda is too small of a station. Bring enough food and drink or plan to go to Wadayama to stock up. We visited Kinousaki Onsen briefly on the owner’s recommendation, for dinner etc. (Thanks for the tip!)

JapanThe host was so kind. Oh my god she was so careful and friendly that I felt like my Mom. We kept talking for about 30 minutes straight ! There were not many convenience stores around ( just one, and a bit far away, in fact ) but she was willing to take me there by car. She runs a cafe which is on another side of the building but I didn't know until I left. Most of restaurants there open from 11am and her cafe starts at 10am, which is pretty good, especially for people who have a bit tight schedule of their trip. I was the only guest the day I came so yeah, it was comfortable to occupy the whole place but I felt a little scared when it turned dark honestly haha

JapanThere wasn't any hand soap in the upstairs bathroom, nor any hand towels to dry ones hands. The beds were a little hard and it was a little expensive in terms of what you get.

CanadaThe futon had stains on it and did not look clean, so I used the other side. There were no towels provided with the reservation. I asked, and they made an exception and gave me a towel. It was a little warm as the AC was off and only the windows were open.
The owner was super friendly and provides you with all the information about Takeda Castle when you arrived. The location is great, only a 4-minute walk from Tekeda Station.
