Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Germanythe hotel is a little outdated. Many spiderwebs in the hallways and the onsen also not the most modern. Very nice that we could use landry and dryer, but the dryer took very long and didn't really reach a dry level of the laundry.
The room had a great view on Mt. Fuji..We liked passing time on the roof with even better view. The bikes the hotel had for rent were okay..The restaurants on the other side of the street were nice to have so close. And the shuttle to the station in the morning was on time.and very friendliy. Thanks to the really kind and polite staff of the accomodation.

ItalyI found it a bit far from the center if you're walking
They picked us up from the station, which was really helpful. The room was clean and nice. There is always hot water and a microwave available.

IsraelThe first room we received was not clean and the smell from the bathroom was horrible, the shower is outside the building which is not convenient, the breakfast is a cheap bought tray, wouldn’t call it a breakfast
An authentic Japanese housing, with a great view of the Fuji mountain

United Kingdom1. The smell of the corridors and rooms wasn't pleasant at all. 2. Cleanliness - No-one came to empty the bins in our room. So we empty them ourselves and left them outside of the room and no-one collected them. Overall the hotel was a little dirty and could do with a deeper clean. 3. The showers - the showering situation was a little odd. You could only take a shower between 6pm and 9am. Very odd hours, particularly as we wanted to go running in the morning but felt very rushed to be back in time to take a shower as it was extremely hot and humid. The showers weren't particularly clean, for example, the "onsen" that was advertised was just lots of showers and an empty bath with dead moths in. 4. The staff were nice, but it wasn't a particularly welcoming atmosphere.
The view out of the bedroom window was stunning!! It was a really magical view and the sounds of the birds in the morning was gorgeous. We saw sunrise over Fuji, which was breathtaking. The location was also fantastic, so close to the lake and town. We could walk from the station to the hostel, no problem and we loved being so close to the lake. You are also inwalkable distance from a lot of attractions, so we only ended up needing to take the bus once. You can also hire bikes, which is very convenient.

IndonesiaThe only thing I didn’t like was when we had to bring our luggages to second floor. But so far, we’re happy and had no complaint.
Really like it as we had a unique experience here. We stayed in a room with futon beds and tatami mat. Shared bathroom in different building was also something different. The best part is our view from the window, Fuji mountain. So perfect! A bonus we can wash our clothes and use the dryer for free. Free transport to train station (vv). Excellent service. The staff (Issuru) was very friendly and helpfull. He took us to the train station. Price Rp.1.933.891 for 3 person with breakfast.

NetherlandsThe room was very bright very early and did not have curtains to block the light. Since we had a busy day before we wanted to sleep a bit longer, but couldn't without a mask (which I didn't have).
Had a lovely room with a mountain view. The room was big and everything we needed was provided. I loved being able to play pool in the common room where a few people were enjoying themselves at the pingpong table.

United KingdomI wish that upon entry to our room, it was a little warmer. We arrived later in the evening, if the heating could be put on beforehand - to be honest I was freezing!

SpainIt was as described (tatami, shared bath, etc.) but it seems a bit run down and not the cleanest, making it a bit overpriced.
The view is amazing, we were lucky to see Mt. Fuji the entire stay. We had a toilet and sink in the room. They had free laundry service. The room was very spacious and is like old time Japanese style (with table and closet). Everything else was as described.

JapanWe liked everything about the hotel. It was clean and cozy. The staff was friendly. The room was warm enough since we visited in winter, there’s were two air cons, however the room got very dry throughout the night, it would’ve been nice if there were air humidifier in the room.

GermanyThe hotel looks run down. In the room, the wallpaper went off or was not painted. The room was really cold, even after running the AC on max for hours, it did not get comfortable warm. On top, the men's onsen was not hot, only luke warm. So it was not possible to heat up, which was bad. Overall, unfortunately the price was too high for what we got and we were disappointed. :(
Staff was really nice and helpful. Fuji view from the room stunning and the breakfast good and enough. There was a great Ramen restaurant in walking distance to the hotel. We really enjoyed the neighborhood.

PolandIt was too cold in the room as AC above beds were off service. AC in the other section of the room were not enough to heat up the whole room, so we had to cover heads with a blanket.
It is a great place to enjoy traditional ryokan. Futon and pillow were comfortable. This room had a nice view on Mt Fuji. The breakfast was a lot for me, so be sure to be hungry. The room had a lot of space and was equipped with the toilet. Many windows and light.

Ice pack left on the fridge from previous guests (it was opened). Also the room was freezing cold and we didnt get any instructions on how to use the air conditioner as heater, had to figure it out for ourselves

FranceThe futon are so thin, it's not even futon. They put 2 to make it better but it's really no big difference with sleeping on tatami. The common bath was way too hot. I'm used to onsen and water generally is around 40 to 42° but this one was probably 45 or 46° so it was not nice to bath in. So noisy... In the evening some people were on the phone outside and we could hear the whole conversation. In the morning, as some people were leaving, it was the same but with banging doors on top of that. There's a washing machine and dryer but you cannot use the dryer after 8pm...but the place with the washing machine opens at 6pm... Not enough time to do even one load. Also, a woman I met told me she asked to share a bath with her husband and they said yes, late at night if they wanted to, she could go to the men bath and hope nobody would come. I think it's totally unreasonable...
The room was big. It's nice to have a yukata. The fact that there's a toilet and a sink in the room is very convenient. Common bath was very clean.

GermanyThe room windows were not holding the cold air out, and it was slightly chilly in the room, but this could be fixed by the aircon heating function.
Very relaxed and great hotel room in private Ryokan close to Mt. Fuji. The staff was extra friendly, very helpful. The bath was alright, available at good times and well equipped. The room was spacious and the futon beds were very comfortable.

IndiaThe property can be better maintained. In my room, the window paper which is called 'shoji' in Japanese was a bit torn and a potential for insects to come in. I managed to block it with a makeshift paper roll to avoid the buzzing bee right outside. But I understand, the staff is overworked as it is the season for climbing.
The hotel is a good 28 - 30 mins walk from Kawaguchiko station. The walk in itself is beautiful. On a good day you can see Mount Fuji 🗻 on your left while walking. The staff in the hotel is welcoming and helpful.
