How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe room had a great view on Mt. Fuji..We liked passing time on the roof with even better view. The bikes the hotel had for rent were okay..The restaurants on the other side of the street were nice to have so close. And the shuttle to the station in the morning was on time.and very friendliy. Thanks to the really kind and polite staff of the accomodation.
the hotel is a little outdated. Many spiderwebs in the hallways and the onsen also not the most modern. Very nice that we could use landry and dryer, but the dryer took very long and didn't really reach a dry level of the laundry.

Verified reviewThey picked us up from the station, which was really helpful. The room was clean and nice. There is always hot water and a microwave available.
I found it a bit far from the center if you're walking

Verified reviewThe view out of the bedroom window was stunning!! It was a really magical view and the sounds of the birds in the morning was gorgeous. We saw sunrise over Fuji, which was breathtaking. The location was also fantastic, so close to the lake and town. We could walk from the station to the hostel, no problem and we loved being so close to the lake. You are also inwalkable distance from a lot of attractions, so we only ended up needing to take the bus once. You can also hire bikes, which is very convenient.
1. The smell of the corridors and rooms wasn't pleasant at all. 2. Cleanliness - No-one came to empty the bins in our room. So we empty them ourselves and left them outside of the room and no-one collected them. Overall the hotel was a little dirty and could do with a deeper clean. 3. The showers - the showering situation was a little odd. You could only take a shower between 6pm and 9am. Very odd hours, particularly as we wanted to go running in the morning but felt very rushed to be back in time to take a shower as it was extremely hot and humid. The showers weren't particularly clean, for example, the "onsen" that was advertised was just lots of showers and an empty bath with dead moths in. 4. The staff were nice, but it wasn't a particularly welcoming atmosphere.
Thank you very much for staying with us, and we sincerely appreciate your feedback. We are truly sorry for the unpleasant experience you had during your stay. Due to recent renovations, including wallpaper replacement, there may have been some residual odors in the hallways and rooms. However, we are happy to inform you that the renovation work has now been completed, and we will do our best to prevent such issues from occurring in the future. Regarding the trash collection, our in-room guide indicates that guests staying multiple nights may place their trash outside their room before noon, and our staff will collect it starting from 1:00 PM. Additionally, trash bins are available in public areas throughout the facility. That said, we greatly appreciate your suggestion, and we are considering adding an evening trash collection to better accommodate our guests. We also understand that the current shower hours (6:00 PM to 9:00 AM) may have been inconvenient, especially given the hot and humid weather. We sincerely apologize for that, and we are now considering extending the available hours to better suit our guests’ needs. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience you experienced and truly appreciate your valuable suggestions. Your feedback helps us to improve and provide a better experience for all our guests.

Verified reviewReally like it as we had a unique experience here. We stayed in a room with futon beds and tatami mat. Shared bathroom in different building was also something different. The best part is our view from the window, Fuji mountain. So perfect! A bonus we can wash our clothes and use the dryer for free. Free transport to train station (vv). Excellent service. The staff (Issuru) was very friendly and helpfull. He took us to the train station. Price Rp.1.933.891 for 3 person with breakfast.
The only thing I didn’t like was when we had to bring our luggages to second floor. But so far, we’re happy and had no complaint.

Verified reviewHad a lovely room with a mountain view. The room was big and everything we needed was provided. I loved being able to play pool in the common room where a few people were enjoying themselves at the pingpong table.
The room was very bright very early and did not have curtains to block the light. Since we had a busy day before we wanted to sleep a bit longer, but couldn't without a mask (which I didn't have).

Verified reviewThe view! It was nice to stay in a traditional Japanese ryokan.
Some parts of the place are a bit old and after visiting many onsens, the onsen was a bit of a disappointment. Also the room was a bit cool the firts night.

Verified reviewWithout a doubt, what I loved the most about this room was the stunning view of Mt. Fuji and its charming traditional style. The value for money is excellent. The staff were very kind, and the room had everything we needed—and more. It’s full of character, and if I return to this area, I would definitely stay here again. For a foreign visitor looking for a more authentic Japanese experience, this place is ideal. They also offer bicycle rentals, which we used a lot, and the staff were very patient with us. We left feeling extremely satisfied and with unforgettable memories. Thank you!
The only downside for us was the overall cleanliness of the property. The hallways had a strong smell, especially in the area where shoes are left, and some common areas like the onsen showed signs of dampness and weren't as spotless as we had hoped. However, the rooms themselves were exceptionally clean and immaculate, so we have no complaints in that regard.
