Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

ThailandHonestly, nothing to complain about. It was all excellent.
The house was even better than we expected—truly perfect in every way. Everyone in our group loved it so much. The place was super clean, cozy, and very comfortable to stay in. The view of Mt. Fuji was absolutely stunning! Toru-san, the host, was incredibly kind and friendly. He took great care of us and was always ready to help with anything we needed. If we ever get the chance, we would love to come back and stay here again many, many times. Highly recommended!

AustraliaNothing. Everything was amazing !
Our host (Toru) went above and beyond, picking us up from the station as our bus came in late, taking us to the grocery store as we arrived on a public holiday and nothing was open, spending lots of time showing us around our accomodation and the sights of the local area. We loved the authentic Japanese style of the house and so close to Mt Fuji and the local sights nearby. A lovely experience and a lovely host.

United StatesOne thing to be aware is the shops and food options at Oshino Hakkai close before 6pm ans as mentioned, taxi service is tough (but not impossible) if you want to leave the area. Also, as mentioned in the other reviews, the tourists swarm in by 9am so we woke up early and enjoyed the whole town before anyone arrived.
Everything was perfect in this beautiful home. You are only steps away from the Oshino Hakkai pools and the first thing you see is Mt Fuji when you wake up. The home was stocked with welcome snacks and fruit, coffee, tea, water and a full kitchen with everything you need to cook. The hosts went above and beyond to the point where they treated us like family. We had a group of 9 people, ranging from 8 - 80 years old. It is tough to get taxis in this town (we traveled to Fuji Q and Lake Kawaguchi) so Toro-San and his wonderful wife offered to drive us in their cars! We were so grateful. Toro-San even helped us book a couple of dinner reservations and gave us some great recommendations. On the day we checked out, he gave us some goodbye gifts and drove us to the bus stop! It was really too much! We would love to host Toro-San and his family in the US if they ever come visit.

United StatesNothing. It was perfect.
Everything about our stay was absolutely wonderful. The house is gorgeous and has a beautiful, warm aura about it. The beds were comfortable and the decorations and traditional architecture was a marvel. We felt honored to stay at such a beautiful place. The surrounding town and area was also gorgeous, Mount Fuji is incredible, but what really stood out to us was how incredible our host, Toru san, was to us. He treated us like family and went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our trip. He is a wonderful human being and I can’t wait to return and see the house and him and his family again!

Hong KongThe property keeper received us very attentively and responded swiftly and adequately to our raised matters. The bungalow is well maintained. We, group of 15, stayed in it for two nights. In general, everything was fine. Above all, it is close to the famous Oshino Hakkai.

NetherlandsJust so you know, after 6pm there is not much to do around Oshino, hardly any restaurants. But we liked buying food at Lawson and eat it in the large kitchen. Also going around by public transport is a bit of a challenge and they stop going to Oshino early, begore 6pm.
Fantastic family owned house (but the whole house is yours, they don’t live there), we loved everything about it. Especially Fuji view!! Oshino Hakkai is a very cute little town and this house is in the middle of it, next to one of the sacred ponds (with Fuji mirror). The house is spotless clean and so spacious and traditional and just perfect. We are a family of 4 with 2 young adult kids, they both had their own bedroom with futon beds upstairs and we slept downstairs in the 2 beds. The owners are very willing to help you with everything you need, including pick up from and drop off at the train station. There is a Lawson supermarket at 6 minutes walk (a nice walk!). We felt so much at home and the family owners are the best hosts.

United KingdomNothing!
Lovely, big, traditional house which is close to the tourist sites around Mt Fuji. Even though there were only 4 of us, we had the whole house to ourselves, but didn't need to use upstairs as there are 2 bedrooms and 2 living rooms downstairs, as well as the large kitchen and bathrooms/toilets. The owner (Toru) was extremely kind & helpful and stayed over in the managers room the first night in case we had any problems. Although it was cooler outside when we stayed (early April), there were plenty of heaters in the house and some traditional Japanese Kotatsu heated tables to huddle around in the evening. I would recommend having a car if you stay here (there is parking on-site). Although the kitchen is large (has seating for at least 10), it might be difficult to cook at meal for a large group as there isn't an oven.

United StatesNothing worth mentioning here. We enjoyed our stay very much.
We had a fantastic stay at this huge, traditional Japanese home in Oshino. The house can easily hold 10+ people comfortably, so we had more than enough space for our group of four (one couple took upstairs and the other downstairs). And the traditional style (tatami mats, sliding doors, floor futons, floor tables with heaters (katatsu), and Japanese artwork and decorations) made us feel we were having a true authentic experience. But the biggest highlight was the impressive view of Mt. Fuji from both floors on a clear day. It was so nice to open the side doors and enjoy the view in the fresh air from the comfort of home. In addition to these major points, the house was also equipped with other amenities that made our stay enjoyable (plenty of electrical outlets to plug in your devices; a well-stocked kitchen with an abundances of dishes, cooking utensils and seating; plenty of bathroom space, with three toilets, two urinals, and two shower rooms with tubs; and heaters in every room to keep warm on those chilly Spring nights). The house is run by a local family and we couldn't have asked for better hosts. They gave us a thorough tour of the house when we arrived, left lots of snacks for us in the kitchen (including beer, soft drinks, and fruit), and offered multiple times to drive us around the area to see the sites. It was actually very convenient to have that offer since we traveled there without a car and they helped us get to the train and bus stations. They also offered to call restaurants and the taxi service to make reservations since we don't speak much Japanese. Overall, they made us feel like family during our stay. The area where the house is located is a gem. It's bustling with tourists and food stalls during the day, but super quiet at night, as most tourists spend the night elsewhere.

We had an amazing time, the host went above and beyond. He found last minute dinner reservations for our large group and even had drinks and a warm bath waiting when we returned. Plenty of space to accommodate large groups and directly in the village so very easy to walk and see everything. We woke up to a stunning view of Mt. Fuji.
