Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

FranceWe loved the authenticity of the place, its cleanliness, and the equipment available both in the kitchen and the little touches like the towels provided for guests, and even the beers. Everything was carefully thought out to make guests feel comfortable and quickly at home in this hotel. But above all, the real gem of this place is Kota, the hist. He was attentive, always available, super friendly, and incredibly generous with us. For example, he drove us by car to the bus station, and he didn’t hesitate to call a car rental agency to make a reservation on our behalf since we had difficulties doing it ourselves without speaking Japanese. Thanks to him, our holiday was truly exceptional. His house is beautiful and conveniently located not far from the part of Sado’s coast we liked the most. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit Sado island

FranceWe had a wonderful time in Sado Island. Hanaya guesthouse is a former ryokan, full of charm and very clean. It is located next to Ogi port, which is ideal when arriving by ferry boat. Our host was very helpful and got us plenty of recommendations during our stay ! A lovely place when seeking for calm and nature in Japan.

GermanyNothing to complain about.
The location of this guesthouse is great. Important spots in Ogi (super markets, restaurants, the tourist info, etc.) can be easily reached by foot. It is also only a couple of steps away from the sea (although it is recommended to travel along the coast a bit to truly appreciate it). We got two rooms which (based on my understanding) where quite traditional (which was one of my reasons for chosing this place, so it definitely delivered). The stuff was very friendly and helpful, and spoke good English, making this guest house a great destination for international travellers (they even had a German map of Ogi!).

SingaporeNothing at all. The house was perfect.
Kota-San was very helpful and welcoming! He also spoke excellent English and really made an effort to communicate with me and my girlfriend. The guest house is very nice, a renovated former ryokan, so it is quite traditional. The amenities were great, the house really has everything you would need. The location was perfect! It was really close to the Ogi port, so during Earth Celebration, It is very convenient. Overall my stay here was wonderful. I will definitely be back.

United StatesI think the toilet stall on the 2nd floor men's bathroom is not meant for adults. It's very cramped. For a very comfortable toilet experience, I had to go to the first floor.
The owner was very friendly and gave us good recommendations on where to go and what to eat. The style of the guesthouse was kitschy and nostalgic. The location was very close to restaurants and the port that we got off at.

GermanyVery nice guesthouse (former ryokan), with antique decorations,, comfy lounge, japanese style showers and many practical features (laundry, covered drying area, towels for rent, big kitchen...). Very helpful and caring staff! Guests receive upon arrival a map wirh extremely helpful information about Ogi (cafés, restaurants, onsen). Loved my room! The tourist information (for renting bicycles) as well as the bus stop is just around the corner..

JapanBecause it is an old building, it is susceptible to vibrations. However, the staff are always careful.
The summer of 2023 was very hot. I used it as a lodging on the first day of my trip along the traversing route of Mt. Donden with my mother. This hotel is located near Ogi Port and is a renovated Japanese restaurant, with a luxurious exterior. The interior has been designed with a variety of features to make it feel like a comfortable hostel, with a large kitchen where anglers can also prepare their fish. Tableware and free seasonings are also available, so you can buy fresh ingredients and cook them to enjoy the feeling of being at a luxury inn. We bought local sashimi at a nearby supermarket. It was delicious enough. The next day, we enjoyed the night view and starry sky at Mt. Dongden, and the traversal route we walked the next day was amazing.thank you.

AustraliaAbsolutely nothing.
Kota-san (host) was exceptionally welcoming, informative and friendly. He has gone so far as to hand draw a map of the local area, complete with eating options, and has translated it into English. How incredibly thoughtful. Great amenities, kitchen was filled with every applicance/utensil you could need.
