Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaIt’s a fair way to shop and restaurants if you don’t have a car but the host can call taxi services. You can cook groceries and there is a fridge and tea and coffee services.
The host was exceptionally friendly and helpful. She helped us navigate rental of bikes, gave us good tips about our bike ride, and helped explain the local experience. The place was clean, spacious and had great location right on the beach. Waking up to the water view was amazing.

New ZealandDifficult to get there if you don't have a car. The bus only runs a few times per day.
Fantastic, friendly, and helpful host. Good supply of necessities including kitchen supplies, shower stuff, common areas. Power socket and light for each bed. Laundry facilities (for a small fee). The beds have traditional-style pillow and thin mattress. Beautiful view.

United StatesThe beauty and the quiet of the area was wonderful after hectic times in Kyōto and Tōkyō. The host was very lively, friendly, and helpful. The tatami room was a nice size and the futons were comfortable. There was air conditioning. Also, we had access to cooking equipment, but only made mocha and microwaved a little food.

ItalyThe location is simply stunning, the guesthouse sits peacefully on the seafront of tranquil Mukaishima Island, surrounded by lush vegetation and easily accessible by car. It's the perfect destination if you're cycling along the Shimanami Kaido. Youko is an incredible host, warm, welcoming, and exceptionally helpful. She provided excellent recommendations for bike rentals, local restaurants, and activities, and every day left thoughtful notes at reception highlighting events happening in the area. When we accidentally left our backpack (with passports inside!) at the guesthouse, she promptly mailed it to our next destination without hesitation. Our 8-year-old daughter, Alice, loved the play area in the communal dining space, bouncing on the trampoline in the garden, and meeting the resident animals: friendly sheep, two charming cats, and Maroon, the adorable dog. The property itself is spotless. We stayed in one of the Japanese-style rooms, which felt spacious by Japanese standards, and offered spectacular views over the bay. The rooftop terrace was another highlight for us. We'd wholeheartedly recommend staying here, it’s truly a special place.

New ZealandNot very many places to eat that we could find nearby, but the 7/11 was not too far. The dessert restaurant Mer seems to have closed.
Gamigami is located with a fantastic view across the inland sea with islands near and in the distance. It is a pity that cables are in this view as seen from the rooms but you can go up on the flat roof for an unobstructed view. It is not very far on a nearly flat road to the ferry to Onomichi so it makes a good last night if you are cycling from Imabari taking several days as we did. We had a comfort Japanese style room.

SlovakiaWhile we thought there is a kitchen available and bought groceries for cooking, there was only a microwave so we went through night very hungry. We could not use the bath tube during our stay.
Amazing host treated us really well and online check-in allowed us to come very late in the night. The shower room had everything we needed and more. We could heat up food in common area and enjoy beautiful sunrise.

United KingdomThe location was a bit hard to navigate on arrival - we ended up getting 2 taxis from Onomichi. What we should have done was to catch the ferry from the quay opposite Onomichi station and then got taxtis or a bus from Mukaishima.
Youka was a brilliant host. She was interested in everything we needed, organised rental bikes for us and even offered us a lift to the ferry on departure. Unlike some of the places we stayed she was generally around and available to help with stuff. The room was great for a family, although my wife and I moved into a Japanese style tatami room the second night which is definitely recommended. The location overlooks the sea and is unique. Great for cycling the Shimanami Kaido. We went in April but would love to return in the summer to use some of the SUP's and jump in the sea!

FranceNo problem!
The hostel is right in front of a quiet beach, in a very calm neighborhood. You can hear the waves at night, the birds in the morning, pet the local cat or even sheep. The common space is big and comfortable. The host is really nice, and we were very grateful when she gave us a ride. (the bike location center or supermarkets are a 45 min walk, add 5 min for the ferry to go to Onomichi centre). The traditional japanese room is quite big, with view on the sea. If you have a car this is a perfect place to stay. 100% would come again!
