Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ThailandKoji is the most generous owner and genunely welcome to help. He picked us up from the port and even picked us up from another port in the night time (we survived from the most adventurous journey - thankful to Koji!). Talk about the place: the guesthouse is cozy and warm. The shared facilities included kitchen and washing machine. The price of ramen and washing pods are the same price in the convenience store and may be cheaper. E-bikes are also provided with the cheap rate (1000 yen/day).

United StatesEasily one of the best places I have stayed in a long time! Beautiful view from my room. Owner was super helpful. Free laundry and bike (and only ¥1k for assist bike) was wonderful and helped me explore the area. Full kitchen too! Book it!

AustraliaQuiet spot located down a quiet lane next to a beautiful shrine. Short walk down to the waterfront, passing by all the quaint local homes. Very relaxed atmosphere and was lucky enough to share the place with another great couple from Tasmania. Cheap beers in the fridge if required 😉 Perfect for those who want to get away from over touristy areas and immerse in Yugejima Island.

FinlandGuest house Michishio is located in Seto inland sea and near Shimanami Kaido at Yuge island near Kamijima. It is bit out of the way and requires a ferry ride. Stayed a night when cycling through the area. Guest house itself is pretty and comfy. Room was spacious and a huge plus from friendlines of the owner and the messages and info he sent and gave. I recommend staying there.

GermanyThe e-bikes are too small for people > 180, I wouldn’t recommend to use them for the full 80km tour across all the connected islands. Everything else was just perfect.
Very nice guest house in yugeshima. Fullly equipped kitchen and bathroom as shared amenities. Rooms are not big, but very comfortable and nicely furnished. Location is quite out of the way, but the host made sure to pick us up from the ferry and had bikes available to rent.

United StatesThe main challenge was the road getting there. The road to the guesthouse did not show up on my car GPS or phone GPS, but only on google maps. There was no sign at the main road directing one to the guesthouse, either. The road was incredibly narrow, even for a small car. The only thing I would change about the guesthouse itself would be to have a place to hang towels or clothing to dry. (There were hangers in a closet, but you could not leave the closet doors open while moving throughout the room.)
The guesthouse was very convenient for our trip. We were taking a day trip by bicycle around the 4 islands of Yumeshima kaido. We were able to use regular bikes for free from the guesthouse. There was also the option to pay 1000 yen for an ebike. The host was present to check us in, and was very attentive to communication. The bedroom itself was clean and the beds were fairly comfortable. The shared kitchen, community room, and bathrooms worked well. Internet worked well. The price was great, too!

United StatesThe guesthouse is located just a short distance from the Yuge Port and can be reached by local bus. The accommodation was excellent - spartan but extremely comfortable. It truly is a hidden gem and the host, Koji, was very helpful and spoke excellent English. I wish we could have stayed longer than 2 nights!

CanadaHad an amazing experience! The guesthouse is located in a beautiful location at the foothills of some mountains on Yuge island. It's quiet but restaurants and convenience store are easily accessible by bike. Was truly a unique experience. Koji was also an excellent host. Would strongly recommend!

JapanNothing!
The pleasant guest house is up a slight hill a km or so from Yuge Port, with a nice view of the sea and the islands. The very helpful host met us on arrival, and provided lots of useful information and even phoned to book us somewhere to eat. The room was comfortable, with a shared bathroom and large kitchen. We prepared our own breakfast (there is a convenience store in Yuge Port). I would definitely stay there again.

GermanyGreat to go by ferry (including car) to Yugechima and stay with Koji in his very nice guesthouse Michishio. We had the best mattresses in Japan so far, liked the more quiet corner of the Shimanagi islands and Koji helped us with recommendations and maps. Very familiar atmosphere as only 3 guest rooms. Small temple right next to the guesthouse. 300 m very narrow road for cars from main road to guesthouse, but manageable.

United StatesThis is a tough one, since I truly enjoyed our stay. But if I had to mention a few small things, perhaps encouraging guests to sit down while using the toilet could help keep the bathroom spotless, as I noticed a few splatters on the wall. Also, a pot lid and an extra IH cooking heater in the kitchen would be very useful for guests.
I truly enjoyed my recent stay at Guest House Michishio! Koji's hospitality was perfect - attentive yet unobtrusive, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The guesthouse itself was impeccably clean and quiet, offering a truly relaxing experience, especially during my 10-day stay. I can't wait to return soon!

NetherlandsVery homely stay, almost like I was visiting my old parents house. It's a guest house with only 3 rooms, so it's quiet and private. Had very welcoming staff interactions and this is a great place to stay and explore the local islands from.

United KingdomKoji was an amazing host that went above and beyond to help us out. We arrived at Yuge port quite late on our check in day and he kindly picked us up and dropped us at the house. The location was 10 mins from the port and surrounded by trees and shrine with views over looking the sea. We liked it so much we ended up returning after cycling the shimanami kaido. Koji helped us to also rent bikes that were much cheaper that other rentals and plan a great route.
