Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

JapanNothing to report.
Amazing couple running this B&B! So hospitable and kind--makes you feel at home away from home. Has all the amenities modern people are looking for! Breakfast was homemade and amazing! Excellent Communication and recommendations about the local area.

United States... I could have used a little bit thicker futon 😁
The owners were very kind and helped me out when I got to the correct station very late after coming to the wrong station. The room was nice and comfortable with good a/c. The breakfast area was large for Japan and the breakfast was delicious. Their dog was very shy but adorable

If you are looking for a nice, clean and affordable place in Nara, don’t hesitate ! It is at less than 10 min from the nearest train station and also convenient store. The place is a mix of typical Japanese house but with a + in confort ! I was very well received by the owner and I enjoyed my short stay there !

SingaporeExtremely friendly hosts Dan and his wife Hiroko. Dan whips up an extremely delicious pizza toast for breakfast. Unfortunately, the price of japanese rice has risen by three times so Dan did not prepare a Japanese breakfast which I read in the reviews as being very good. Dan was also very generous in sharing with us about do's and don'ts regarding Japanese social and cultural norms. The place is also very new, less than 5 years old if I am not wrong.

AustraliaAbsolutely loved my stay here. The location was nice, only a short walk to the station and within the quiet alleyways of the neighbourhood. Many nice local restaurants and a shopping mall also within walking distance. The room was super clean and the hosts were absolutely lovely. They gave me many recommendations and even offered to move a desk into my room as I was working during my stay. If I ever find myself in Nara again I will be staying here :)

SingaporeI haven't thought of anything. Even if there is something I dislike, it doesn't bother me much because the positive aspects outweigh the negative.
The peaceful and tranquil atmosphere was delightful. I appreciated the kindness of my hosts and the welcoming, homelike environment they provided. This is a straightforward and comfortable guesthouse. Experience a simpler way of life by sleeping on a futon and enjoying a traditional Japanese breakfast.

United StatesIf we could give Hariko (a Nara native) and Dane (from Washington State) a 100 ⭐s we would! Great location within a 10 minute walk to the train station that will connect you to many wonderful places. The accommodations are comfortable and public spaces inviting. Be sure to include breakfast - while a continental breakfast is available the traditional Japanese (our choice) was tasty and filling.

SingaporeDon't really like the road. It 🛣️ narrow. But hey, it's ok. The peacefulness 🕊️ compensate back.

SingaporeThe absence of a television may limit entertainment options, but the peaceful neighborhood ambiance can be quite enjoyable. Although you may miss certain comforts, the provision of WiFi allows you to utilize your smartphone for entertainment purposes.
We express our sincere appreciation for the aesthetically pleasing and well-organized arrangement of the room. Its simplicity and neatness are truly delightful. #homedesign #interiordesign The dining room is excellent, and their homemade breakfast is delicious. Hiroko and Dan demonstrated remarkable flexibility by offering diverse breakfast menus each day, which we greatly appreciated. In all honesty, I wholeheartedly recommend B&B Nara An. The proprietors are wonderful individuals whose company we thoroughly enjoyed.

AustraliaNothing not to like.
The hosts Hiroko and Dane were very friendly and extremely helpful. They helped us plan our excursions, organise takuhaibin etc. Our Japanese breakfasts were the best we have had. The accommodation was great value and very clean. We found the location great, as it was close to a railway station and all kinds of shops and restaurants. The trains from the station went to Nara (2 stops) and there were express trains to both Osaka and Kyoto. Overall we would highly recommend staying at B&B Nara An.

New ZealandI had my own transport mostly so its distance from the centre of town wasn’t an issue for me, but maybe for others. Sleeping on a futon is never as comfortable as a bed!
It was a nice change from a business hotel and had a nice dining room that you can use as a communal area. The couple that run it are really friendly and both are fluent English speakers. As a solo traveller it was great to have someone to chat with. The rooms are very nice and the breakfast is good. It’s a short walk from the train station.
