Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

JapanThe wi-fi connection isn't very stable, I had to revert back on using my mobile connection sometimes because I couldn't access the internet
Location a bit away from the center of city, making it a perfect spot for relaxing after a day of activities in town as there is less noises. Make sure not to forget to bring your own amenities as they only provides shampoo and soap but otherwise it's a nice place if you're looking for a dorm-like hostel experience

Hong KongThe bathroom, showers and sinks were in the same area as the beds so it made sleeping difficult if others were using the bathroom area (hairdryers, etc). There were no quiet hours which added to the noise at all hours.
The best were comfortable, the location was great and It was easy to check in by yourself.

SwedenWith the moving story in mind I had a fairly massive suitcase which was quite heavy and a smaller one. The female dormitory is on the 3rd floor without and the mixed one is on the 2nd floor. There is no elevator. But honestly there not being an elevator was not a big deal for me since I knew about it beforehand. Just be prepared for it. I also brought more valuables such as a laptop and other stuff I normally wouldn't bring on a leisure trip. The luggage storage was large but there were no lockers with locks on them, it is all an open area but a big enough one size wise. There were boxes with code locks for smaller valuables such as a wallet etc but they wouldn't fit something like a laptop.
A very cheap hostel with a reasonable walking distance to Ikebukero station. The main reason I chose it was because the next day I would move into my apartment and thus wanted good access to Ikebukero station. A toothbrush, toothpaste and a small towel for your hands was provided. Overall I think it fits my expectations quite well.

JapanThey don’t have any towels, tooth brush etc. for you. Since the shower room is located in the same room as the beds, there were time restrictions for its use.
The location was good and the bed was clean and comfy.

TaiwanI think it’s a little far from the station cuz it almost spend me around 40mins every day (go and back), and I think it’s a little be not so convenient that should take bath before 24:00, cuz who back to hotel so early in Tokyo?~ but the place and comfort by the bed is okay for me, and not so nosy from my opinion cuz not so full customers at the night I came!!

JapanI didn’t bring my towel because I expected I can rent it, but I arrived at hostel late so I tried to rent in the morning. But there wasn’t staff in the morning and I needed to contact them before hand if I want to rent. It was nice if they noticed me or write it here.
The hotel price has been rising especially for Japanese, so this price value was acceptable and helpful.

IsraelThe rooms are very small. There is almost no private space for items besides bed.
The property is close to Ikebukuro train station. The beds are okay. The lobby room is nice, there are fridge and microwave. My friend wasn't feeling well and they allowed her to stay in bed after checkout.

United KingdomI absolutely LOVED my stay here. The days I stayed, it was only me and one other guest so the entire dorm was empty. The price was incredibly reasonable, only a 20 minute walk from the main city of Ikebukuro, I will absolutely say here again. I am amazed that the place wasnt fully booked. The staff were also very friendly and gave me a hand to take my heavy suitcase down the stairs and outside.

We started and ended our 2.5 week holiday in Tokyo. This hostel was so good that we booked it again for our return. Ikebukuro is an awesome area with less tourists and such great stuff to discover. GDIC is great value! Highly recommend if you want to spend your dollars on Tokyo experiences instead of blowing it all on accommodation. Check out the awesome shopping complex rooftops nearby with gardens, food, drinks.

New ZealandCheck-in was not very smooth. I didn't receive any check-in details in advance, and there was no staff around. I arrived around evening time, and the temperature was low and freezing.. been waited and tried to contact the staff for more than 20mins until the staff from the bar (not even hostel staff) helped us to get in the hostel. She is helpful and kind. While waiting for the response from hostel, she even invited us to wait in the bar. Much appreciated for her help.
Everything except the check-in.

BulgariaNoise from the bar below past midnight. A lot of police/firetrucks pass by and the street was on my side (bed 10) so I could hear a lot of car noise. The hostel also shakes when bigger trucks pass through the bridge. Only one shower and one toilet in a mixed room for 9-10 people. The common room is not very comfortable for working as there are only low tables and a wooden bench. Small lockers, barely fit my laptop and camera. The bed was a bit hollow in the middle, so slightly uncomfortable. No elevator - have to carry luggage up the stairs.
It was clean and the kitchen had microwave, kettle and other necessities as well as free tea. There is a small compartment next to the bed which is nice to put your things there for easy access.
