Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeWhen we first entered the room there’s an unpleasant smell. This is not the first Japanese style room I stay in Japan, but here I had to make our own futons. And the futons here are THIN! I could hear people talking clearly while they passing by my room early in the morning and when upstairs children jumping on the floor excitedly! Crowded hotel during weekend!
The indoor playground for children is fantastic!

CanadaDated facility, very crowded with families with young children...this is not a relaxing stay at all. If you go, be prepared to line up for everything. The hot tubs were also full of people, and kids.
The buffet breakfast was great with lots of varieties.

FinlandThey didn't mention you have to que to the breakfast with a waiting number you have to get from the restaurant and then wait 30-60minutes. I understand the need for the system but would be nice to know before to plan. We stayed in Japanese style futon room and it really is super outdated and smells not nice, "futons" are not comfortable. Moneywise it made sense.
Common areas are nice, the kids playroom is huge and even smells nice as most of it is wooden structures. Onsen was super nice.

JapanThe carpet is old and stained, very stinky, surely it doesn't cost much to buy a carpet cleaning machine for such a large hotel. We didn't pre order buffet dinner, when we inquired about it, we were quoted $300 for 2 adults and 1-6yr old kid, the child was charged at 7500yen. If we had pre booked it, it would have cost $100 Aus dollars, how can you have a 300% increase for dinner just because it wasn't pre booked, absolutely crazy. We went to a restaurant down the road for dinner, but I was able to walk past the buffet area, and it looked ok, but no way on planet earth could it be charged at $300 for 2adults and 1 small child.
The onsen is nice, the kids play area is fantastic

AustraliaWe stayed in a traditional Japanese-style room on Level 2, and the experience was disappointing. The carpet was dirty and the room had a strong musty smell. As non-Japanese guests, we were confused to find we had to make our own beds. While the room and common areas were somewhat clean, the fridge, bathroom, and bedding were clearly worn out. There was no air conditioning due to the season, and I was handed a fan to carry to the room myself—no assistance offered. The park and hot spring facilities closed early (11am and 10am), which made them unusable during off-peak hours. The hot spring, though nice, was too small for the number of guests. Finally, the 9,200 yen buffet dinner was overpriced and felt more like a business hotel meal. Booking.com advertised for breakfast buffet $40 package for 2 adults, they did not honour the deal we had, they will charge 3800 yen per adult, if you need breakfast, book online is better. Overall, not a family-friendly stay.
Kids Park was exceptional, beautiful scenery, and entrance gave a grand feeling. Hot bath was great.

AustraliaJapanese room’s futon is too thin and wake up with back pain. Also check in takes 1-1.5hours especially on the weekend. If you want to book a table for Dinner and breakfast took also 1-1.5hours of wait. If you have small children that can be pretty challenging. In my case, the staff stuffed up allocating my room after long wait of check in which was pretty disappointing. Staff haven’t been trained to deal with large number of weekend bookings after renewed the hotel. I strongly suggest staying during the week.
Kids playground facility was good for them to be entertained and burn some energy before while you are staying even before hit the road they can run around a bit which was good

United KingdomNeeds to have coffee in the rooms. Very simply to leave a couple of sachets. Reception told me I couldn’t have any! Then at breakfast there were loads of sachets. Ruined my experience. Considering this is double the price of similar hotels this was annoying.
Beautiful setting. Wildly overpriced though and no coffee to be had if you need it in the morning like me.

The Onsen set up is lovely, the newly renovated rooms are very nice, the staff are extremely helpful, there is drinks and some snacks offered in lobby seating area before dinner and then at supper/9pm which we loved, you need a car if you want to explore the area which is really beautiful, we didn’t have breakfast or dinner as felt it was a bit pricey but it smelt and looked amazing instead we loved exploring small local country eat places 😊

AustraliaThe futons were very thin and hard There were no vending machines, no room service, no bar or cafe, nowhere to eat other than the expensive restaurant which only offered a buffet. Although free drinks were offered there was limited choice and the bottles emptied quickly. They were served in paper cups which we find unacceptable for a Mercure hotel. Also it was half an hour from anywhere to find a restaurant
