Lovely stay. This trip was my third time staying at the GrapeHouse. It’s perfect for an affordable solo stay in Tokyo. Always so welcoming and facilities are all you’d need. Washing machine on site & laundromat with dryers 2 minutes walk away. Shared spaces are very neat and I always make friends with other travellers. Koenji is a very special part of Tokyo to stay in.

Maybe I overread that while booking - but 12 beds in one room are too much for me. Though only maybe half of the beds were occupied, the air during the night was bad & the AC wasn’t very powerful.

The owners (plus the dog) are really super nice, sweet & helpful. 10/10! The other female travelers, too. The location is easy to find & near both - the train station and some shopping streets/bars/restaurants. Everything is made with love and a sense for detail.

Some nights I would walk back to the house after 8 or 9pm alone and the short walk to the entrance of the house felt very dark. Although there was an effort to light the front door, the walk made me a little nervous, especially as I fumbled with the keypad for the front door. Please add hooks or shelving to the side of the sink so we can place our toiletries when we’re getting ready for AM/PM.

Quick and easy check in. Great communication. Easy to access restaurants, stores, and the train station. I appreciate the amenities that were provided. Clear guidelines for shared spaces. Very polite and friendly staff.

Sanae, the hostel owner, is very sweet and takes good care of the hostel. Her Japanese-style breakfast is also delicious! All other positive reviews are on point.

The hostel can get quite noisy late at night and early in the morning. We never had to wait too long for the showers or toilets, but the bathroom sink area (big sink + 2 faucets & big mirror) can get a bit crowded.

Great location in a lively neighbourhood. We stayed in the private room and it was a good size and comfortable for 2 people. We are able to get our luggage delivered to the hostel with Yamato.

I stayed here with my friend for four nights and had such a fantastic time. It was our first time away from home and in a foreign country without family. Sanae (host) truly felt like a nurturing aunt and made us feel at home. Became friends with lots of the sweet other girls that were staying with us. A great place to make friends and felt very safe. The area is sooo cool. We spent lots of time exploring the area and loved coming home to GrapeHouse. So thankful for the host’s thoughtfulness and the memories we made here. Thank you sanae!!✨🌸🌸

I wish my stay was longer!

Sanae-San was so hospitable, accomodating and she went above and beyond to accomodate my two week stay. The guests were so friendly! I got to meet so many people from all over the world!

Balcony to hang clothes was a little difficult to get too but otherwise, everything was perfect.

It was very clean. Staff did remarkable job spending a lot of time cleaning every day. Had good quality hairdryers, cute toaster oven, free roasted coffee. - not instant, hot showers and laundry machine only ¥100.

So clean, they clean everyday and it’s always spotless. The host is so lovely. Her dog is so cute and friendly too! Sometimes he’ll greet you at the door, this meant so much to me especially when I was missing my dog at home. The neighborhood is AMAZING. I love Koenji so much. A perfect, calm getaway from the city with still plenty of things to do. Great restaurants, thrifting, karaoke, parks, and Japanese vibes. Also Nakano is a 20 min walk away and they have a mall with Uniqlo and everything else you’d need. It’s easy to meet other people and make friends! Women-only was awesome and made me feel really safe. I can’t wait to go back and spend my entire Japan trip here. I shouldn’t have bothered with any other hotels. Nothing compares to Grapehouse Koenji!

The room wasn’t too big and there was a lot of beds. Then of course it’s hard to predict who will get up when etc. didn’t have the best sleep of my life, but it was not the owners fault of course

Everything is very clean and you can tell it is being maintained by a woman - lots of shelves and hooks everywhere - just practical stuff that make your stay a bit nicer. In the common area there was a shelf with painkillers and stuff for manicure. So nice ! Also breakfast was really good and cheap. I loved the location of Koenji. Not far away from main events but very local with lots of nice shops and bars. Worth to explore Nakano as well !

Great to stay here for a few nights upon my arrival in Tokyo - such a quiet, cosy place - very very tasty breakfast (try it!) - very very clean showers - lovely little communal area - also loved the neighborhood

Away from the crowds of Tokyo, Koenji is a cool & charming residential area filled with everything that you'll need from cafes, bars & shopping. The hostel was super easy to get to & I loved how it had more of a suburban feel.

I didn't mind it, but the owner has a small dog on the first floor, so if you're scared or allergic, let them know.

The Koenji area is really nice, and the station is about 10min walk from the hostel. Was able to socialize with other travelers which was nice.

Friendly Comfortable, clean & very well maintained guest house. Welcoming Good location, lovely area. Easy to get to busier parts of Tokyo but Koenji has a slower more neighbourhood vibe. Lots of good food around and a nice public bath close by.

Very calm & clean hostel. The beds are really comfortable & Sanae has thought of everything - there are hooks, sockets, personalised lock boxes, all that you need. I love that Sanae does recycling. It is a tiny hostel so don’t expect parties. But it’s safe, friendly & comfortable & in a wonderful part of Tokyo. Very easy walk from Koenji station

GrapeHouse Koenji is a beautiful authentic intimate guesthouse that makes you feel at home. The location is excellent and Koenji is now one of my favourite Tokyo neighbourhoods (great for thrifting). The guesthouse is clean, comfortable and a lot of thought has been put into making your stay as comfortable as can be.

Everything was amazing.

This guesthouse is just lovely. It's beautiful, comfy, and really clean. Sanae San is an amazing host, very kind and organized. The fact that it's a women-only guesthouse also makes it a safer place for us to feel fully at home. Also, very well connected because Koenji station is just 10 minutes walking. I would definitely come back. I recommend Sanae's San breakfast!!! It was delicious.

Really good value for money. Neighborhood is pretty quiet. I felt safe even as a solo female traveler. Facilities are simple but you get all the basic hostel necessities. Host was very gracious :)
