Beautiful Japanese-style guesthouse. Only a 5-minute walk from the train station, which is very convenient. The room and beds are comfortable.

Only 1 toilet for about 15 people, or I just did not find more of them. One was out of use. Also, the guesthouse is located on a bar street and walls are literally paper, so not the best option for those with sleeping issues.

The guesthouse is really beautiful inside, and incredibly they have a Finnish barrel sauna free for all! The self check-in was smooth and amenities were sufficient. It was clean, mattress was comfy, common kitchen was great.

Entrance to the property was a bit sketchy and a bit dirty/smelly. Unfortunately the guest in the neighbouring room went out all night and left their lights on which was super bright through the screen walls — I’d maybe consider a lights out rule

the only thing I didn't like was the noise from the street. as it is located at a busy place in Tanabe, people had fun until middle of night, resulting loud noise. ear plugs will definitely help.

Downside of a traditional building is the paper-thin sliding doors: not sound proof and lets a lot of light go through. It would be very easy to add a curtain to block the light. For the non-sound proofing door, guests are very respectful and quiet so it was not an issue.

The Japanese style rooms have plastic opaque windows that let a lot of light in from the hallways. It’s in the bar nightlife district, so you can hear drunken revelers at all hours of the night and morning. Bring ear plugs and an eye mask. The advertised sauna was confusing to use so we didn’t use it.

Location near the train and bus station was great. The price was reasonable.

The guesthouse is about 5 minutes walk from the train station, and is located in an area which full of restaurants. Self check in and out are easy and convenient. The guesthouse is a huge Japanese style apartment. Our room is a bit small but comfortable.

It is quite easy to hear others' footsteps in the room. Basically there is no sound insulation and maintaining a quiet place depends on tenants' self-discipline.

The location is perfect, within 3-minute walk distance from the train station. Self-check in is convenient.

Rooms are first come first serve and I ended up with a central room with windows on three sides so dependent on gas being considerate and turning off lights. Also unfortunately, residence above decided to have an electric guitar and singing session. She sounded like a strangle cat and the cat was strangled till at least midnight!! Maybe I was just unlucky with my stay.

It is located directly above a karaoke bar and you can hear karaoke in every room until midnight on weeknights and who knows how late on weekends. My room had windows on three sides, two of them facing the hallway and one to outside. There were no window shades so the room was very bright in the morning. Ear plugs were a necessity as was a blindfold. If you are not good at sleeping, this is not a good place for you. I ignored the negative reviews because I couldn't believe sound isolation being that bad. It was that bad. There was only one toilet for 7 rooms!

It was very affordable and very clean! The shower had excellent water pressure.

Paper thin walls and neighboring bars are loud, karaoke going on till 6-7am.

Stayed here for two nights before our hike and on the first night of our hike (bus to and from trailhead each morning). Great facilities and very clean. Whole property seems new.

Very clean, excellent shared facilities (lounge and kitchen). Very convenient to travel to Kumano Kodo walk and for local restaurants. Owner very helpful and easy to contact. Very good value.

It's very disappointing that the soundproofing of the room is incredibly terrible. There's a lot of karaoke store nearby, and the singing can penetrate through the walls into your room (they sing even in the weekday). If there's still another choice for accommodation, I will recommend don't even try this one. FYI.
