Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe host was so friendly and helpful! He explained the different options for cycling the Shimanami Kaido and we rented bikes from the guesthouse for a good price. On our first evening we had arrived a bit late and there were no restaurants open nearby, so the host lent us bikes for free to cycle to a restaurant! And on our last day, when we missed the bus, he drove us to the ferry himself! He and his wife could not have made us feel more welcome. Would recommend to anyone wishing to cycle the Shimanami Kaido.

United StatesIt's not a deal breaker but it is about a twenty minute walk from the ferry. You will need to walk about five to ten minutes from the JR station to get to the ferry. The trip is very short across the water and cost 100 yen. Even with that, I would definitely stay at this place again, the customer service is outstanding.
The host is absolutely amazing and really goes out of his way to ensure you have what you need. A very nice family loves in this house and it was a pleasure to stay there.

United KingdomNothing- everything was great.
Excellent location at the outset of the Shimanami Kaido cycle route just a few minutes away by ferry which we had to take anyway to get to the start of our ride. The guesthouse is a lovely family run heaven with a super kind host who let us leave our heavy luggage at his house during our ride and we collected on the way back. Very comfortable, convenient, reasonably priced - would highly recommend.

CanadaVery friendly hosts :) Welcome tea on arrival. Amazing shower, comfy bed and room. Very close to bus stop from train station/town. This is not walkable from the main town, you either need to get the bus or the ferry over and walk. Bus stop is number 7 outside main station, very easy, less than 10 minutes on the bus

United StatesThis guesthouse is very good for a one-night stay in Onomichi. The owner is very kind and helpful. He even has bikes to rent if you are traveling along the Shimanami Kaido. Additionally, the location is pretty good as it is a 3 minute walk uphill to a bus stop or a 10 minute walk to a ferry towards the main area of Onomichi. Overall it's a great experience for such a small fee - great value!

New ZealandThe place is a bit out of the way and it takes a while to get to the Guesshouse but once you are there it is awesome. There is a great supermarket about 10 minutes walk with great selection for dinner food
Absolutely lovely family hosting. While they have little English this is no problem at all and communication is great. Extremely helpful with everything. They organized for our luggage to be delivered to Imibari which was fantastic as we were struggling to find the best option. The area we were staying was a great space for the 5 of us. We had the best sleep since we started traveling 3 months ago. Súper confortable futons and really warm place eve though it was very cold outside.

United KingdomLovely time in this guesthouse. The family are very kind. The dorm and rooms have their own massage chairs which was great after my long day of cycling the Shimanani Kaido. There was also a bath which I used to relax the muscles. Bed was very comfy and everything was clean, with towels + all soaps provided. Bit of a language barrier but translation apps were fine to use. The one thing to call out is the location is the other side of the sea to the main town, so you have to either get a bus or ferry over there.
