The lounge area was spacious, air-conditioned and well restored to allow a gathering place for my party to hangout and debrief the days activities. Sitting behind a cafe was fantastic allowing for seamless access and luggage hold, and extra bathrooms if needed

Space in the upper room was ok, a bit cramped for luggage but not the end of the world. Shower room was a bit stuffy but again not a deal breaker

We enjoyed the uniqueness of this property! The cafe, kitchen, central seating area, bathrooms, showers/laundry, and cubicle style bunk beds all connected by a outdoor hallway and river-rock pathway - like a small compound with an outdoor koi pond area in center. Creative, quiet, and plenty of room to spread out. Great location to restaurants and shops downtown, as well as the train station just 5 min walk away.

The couches were kind of hard to sit on and without a lot of back support.

We arrived on a Wednesday and the cafe was closed so it was very quiet and peaceful. The door to the cafe was open and there was a welcome sign with our name on it as we approached the back where the stay is located. There were very nice dishes, glasses, coffee cups, etc. The bunk beds were comfortable and the drapes for privacy were a plus. We went for a sake tasting down the street which was simple but nice. We really enjoyed our stay here and would love to come back and stay longer. If you’re eating in town, you must make reservations!

The toilet is down an outside hall, which was fine for us because we had nice weather and the garden area with pond is beautiful. There was mention of bathrooms in the cafe but we did not look for them.

Our group of 4 friends stayed overnight before we started our Nakasendo in Magome the next morning. The house was situated a short walk from the train station. the front section operates as a cafe during the day. The property is well renovated inside and suitable for big groups. Kitchen, washing machine and dryer handy. Located in a quaint street with charming historic houses. Too bad we had to leave early morning to hike, would have loved to try out the breakfast and coffee in the cafe in front!

Accessible to the Nakasendo trail and some good spots to eat. Our kids liked the novelty of the bunks. Good showers, comfy lounge area in the heart of Nakatsugawa-juku.

The hostel was amazingly peaceful and cozy, decorated with great taste and with a beautiful garden inside, and in the heart of the historic city. Beds were really comfy too ! I would have loved to stay more, this was a perfect spot for hiking and discovering the city.

    Nothing.

Cute little place connected behind a cafe. Young and fresh vibes as everything was very clear from booking to checking in. QR ready for top up payment. Washing machine and dryer were very useful. The place was well equipped. We had good rest after a day of hiking.

All the toilets do not have bidets!! This was soooo strange and kinda hard to accept a place without water spray after use.

Lots of character and good location amongst historical buildings. Our children liked the bunk beds that were enclosed.

Everything was as per photos and description, so we knew what we were getting. The bathrooms are downstairs (fairly steep) from the bedroom, so may not suit families either young children (ours are 11 and 12 - it was perfectly fine).

Private guesthouse located at the back of a village cafe. It is quietly located and has all the necessities for a long stay. We appreciated the personal welcome.

The thin matrass in the bunk bed.

My family loved our stay here and were sad to leave. Beautiful, traditional-style guesthouse, with our own external courtyard. Located along the old Nakasendo, amidst lots of old shops. Just across the street from a traditional confectioner’s and sake brewery.

Pillows were very soft. This was our only complaint. Everything else was fantastic.

We loved everything. The place is so beautiful and located on the Nakasendo. The little neighbourhood is very cute. The garden was a magic touch. The beds were very comfortable. Although breakfast at the cafe was delicious. We loved our stay. My daughter said that it was her dream house.

    We liked everything

    Nothing, everything was great!
