Although several eating establishments within easy walking distance, unable to dine at any without prior reservations. Not able to use dining facility for conbi meal.

The rest room isn’t properly clean 😣, there are some stains.

The room was big and comfortable, the convenience store (Family Mart) is just in the front of hotel. Near to AEON and restaurant (Mos Burger, Hamazushi, komeda cafe etc), very convenient environment.

The door to the rooms don't have an autolock, you have to remember to lock them which I wasn't in the habit of doing. Definitely a security risk in my opinion. The shower pressure wasn't great and the extractor fan in the bathroom is way too loud (there's no separate switch for the fan).

The breakfast buffet was included. They had an ice dispenser. Free parking behind the building. Right next to a Family Mart and a supermarket.

Excellent breakfast. Changing daily. The three ladies who worked in the dining room were very responsive and nice.

Stayed for two nights. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was good and varied each day, which was a nice touch. The free laundry facilities were especially appreciated after hiking the Kumano Kodo, though the dryer didn’t work very well. The location is convenient—close to the bus stop and train station, restaurants, and grocery stores. Overall, a pleasant and comfortable stay.

Gran Hotel is a bit away from the train station. We booked a double bed room which is quite spacious! The staffs are very nice and friendly!

The room was spacious enough and clean. Many eateries are within walking distance. Breakfast was delicious.

The breakfast was just OK, but there wasn't much choice, it was more like a salad plate at lunch time. I couldn't find a knife either, so I was spreading jam with a spoon (that's on me for not asking though). The sink and bathtub in the room was a bit damaged, although it didn't affect the usage.

The staff were very friendly on check-in, and there was a lot of English information printed in the room information and around the hotel. The room was a good size, and the bed was warm and comfortable.

Thought it was a bit expensive compared today most comparable hotels. Quite a difficult hike to the train station along rough pathway.

I was unlucky I think in that my room faced out onto a karaoke bar so was a bit noisy in the evening

It was a little old fashioned and I like that it adds a more human touch to the stay

Shingu is a small city (population around 33,000), but spread out. I found it difficult to match my "travelling by public transport" needs and was glad I selected this hotel. Staff are welcoming and very helpful. Facilities while older, offer a change from the Japanese chain hotels in which I've previously stayed. Shingu rail station and bus terminal are a flat 15-minute walk if you want to do that. Orestia Trenta, an Italian bar restaurant, is next door. A Family Mart is across the road, and a little beyond the Karaoke Club Dam, there's a large EverGreen supermarket. Hotel has bicycles for guest use and laundry facilities.

The breakfast was adequate. a few more choices would have been an improvement

We arrived a day early as my wife had developed a fever and I felt that getting from our hiking trip in Kumano Kodo to a larger city with better facilities was paramount. We arrived at the hotel and they were able to give us a larger suite than our original booking which made my wife much more comfortable.

Roomtemperature was to high....windows open only sideways so it is impossible to close curtain and have an open window. As the outside temperature was 23 degrees it is absolutely ridiculous that the airco only blows hot air.

Breakfast was bad. Only 1 hard-boiled egg left and the 2 old ladies couldn't be bothered to replenish despite a customer asking about it. How do you expect children to eat raw eggs?

Excellent service, nice room, the free washing machines and bikes are very useful, there is a convenient store just crossing the street and a very nice restaurant next to the hotel

The room had a musty smell and everything seemed dated. Wanted to open the window but couldn't. The bathroom was extremely small. Y

It was fine for one night. The staff were pleasant, parking was good, breakfast was included and ok. The beds were comfortable.

I wish the staff had informed me of the free bikes and the free washing/drying facilities. I didn’t find out until it was late in the evening and after walking all over the city. A bike ride would have made a big difference and I could have washed my clothes after my long walk too.

The room was spacious and clean and it had everything I needed for a peaceful night. The staff were very kind and welcoming and they lent me an umbrella when I went out for a walk.
