How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewAwesome staff. Yusaku was great. Super helpful and fun to chat (or have a drink with) with. Nice atmosphere. Overall everything was excellent for the price.
A/C in the mixed dorm was rough... The bunks have wooden walls, so the cool air doesn't get inside very easily, meaning the individual bunks get pretty hot/stuffy despite A/C being on in the room. Not a deal-breaker, it was still mostly comfortable!

Verified reviewThe staff and the atmosphere were friendly. The dinner there was good and the beds were comfortable.
We were staying in the top bunks and getting down was quite a challenge. Having the ladder between two beds made finding the rungs a little difficult. I was constantly worried I'd fall!

Verified reviewIt was a bed, or rather a futon for one night. 3 futons in a room with not a lot of space to spare. The bar downstairs had drinks and food. Simple, cheap, super basic and probably more suited to younger end travellers.
Washroom sinks in a hallway rather than a bathroom type space.

Verified reviewWe had an amazing stay with a private room given to me and my mother at no extra cost!! There is a restaurant on the bottom floor and the hostel is situated at a great location 5 minutes from the JR station!

Verified reviewThe staff was very friendly and I really enjoyed the bar downstairs. The location was also okish - close to the train station and quiet at night.
Unfortunately the hostel is not well maintained. My bed was clean and covered in fresh bedsheets but the mattress should have been exchanged long time ago. It already has dent in the middle where usually people lay. The common area on the 1st floor is very small and you can see a lot of dust close to the ventilation on the ceiling. Also the shower cabins were clean on the floor and the walls but the ceiling was covered in mole.

Verified reviewAmazing location and staff were amazing
Mattresses in dorms have lost their padding so you kinda roll to the middle and then the bed is hard

Verified reviewThe staff were very friendly and I was even invited out to Okonomiyaki on the first night. There was only one other person in the female only section so I pretty much had it to myself. The bed was clean and comfortable. The fridge and microwave were also clean.
There are quite a few stairs to the sleeping area so carrying a big bag is difficult. The bottom of the sinks looked weird and cracked. There was also some paint peeling off areas. There was a fair bit of dust in the shower and sink areas but apart from that is was clean.

Verified reviewNice hostel stay, liked the bunk beds (female dorm) and private room. Downstairs is a bar with lively crowd (live music band and food) the evening we arrived. Lots of food/shops around, and nearby metro.

Verified reviewLocation was good close to a JR station. There was plenty of places to eat close by. The staff were friendly and check-in was easy. It was reasonably quite and we never really had to wait for a shower. The room was big enough and comfortable.
The mould. Honestly I have stayed in many hostels and never have I seen so much mould. It was mainly on the air-conditioner/heater and in the showers. As much as the place generally looked clean with this much mould you have to wonder how often it is properly cleaned. It is quite off putting.

Verified reviewIt was only 5 min walk from Yokogawa station. There were a supermarket, convenience stores, bakery, restaurants nearby.
The shower rooms had some molds. The ventilation was quite bad.

Verified reviewThe crew was very friendly and welcome drinks are offered. Close to the train station.
The only female room is small, not much space if all the beds are booked. Only two showers and two toilets for 16 or so guests, plus few people who seem to be living there. It’s not absolutely terrible, might be ok for a last resource, one night booking or an emergency spot while you find a better place.
