Too small towels, very thin doors, uncomfortable beds, the room could be cleaner.

Opposite of Ritsurin gardens, close to bus stop. Everyone was helpful. Food buffet seemed really nice (we didn't try) and at a very reasonable price. The bathrooms were clean.

Very kind personnel who help you out with anything. The personnel also helps in organizing some fun around the hostel, like a home cooked shabu shabu dinner. Excellent place and will come back!

The corridor and stairs were stuffy as we stayed during summer. The room`s cooler was working pretty well.

Reasonable cost benefit. If you order in advance, the owner/chef can prepare the dinner with a variety of dishes with affordable price.

This was definitely one of the nicest hostels I've ever stayed in. Run so creatively with so much genuine passion. They've created a fantastic community. I really regret not staying longer, the food was exquisite and there was so much going on - endless activities and novelty nights planned by the staff. There were constant singalongs and it was easy to meet people and just hang out.

Staff is super welcoming, rooms and common spaces are incredibly clean and dorms are comfy. They have a chef for breakfast that also does some dinner parties! The latter are absolutely worth the extra charge. Overall amazing value for money :)

The guests checked in after 11pm organized their stuff and washed their clothes around 0 am. That disturbed my rest slightly while most of the guests were thoughtful and liked to communicate with each other.

All the staff members were nice and very friendly. The building itself is traditional though the bathrooms are new and clean.

'Chefy' is a legend. Ask and he delivers with style and flair. It's the best hostel I came across in Japan for breakfast and dinner because Chefy is the real deal - exceptional food and presentation, also creates a great social atmosphere with communal dining. Reception is very helpful Rooms are really functional, ours had a new traditional tatami floor. Windows are heavily double glazed to block nearby railway noise. The shared spaces are full of good information brochures, powerpoints, tea and coffee making. The gardens next door are magnificent - saw some amazing butterflies there, stayed for a whole day! Oh and there's bicycle hire. 10 out of 10 from me for staff and the facilities at Hostel JAQ Takamatsu (and I'm renowned for being very fussy !!)

The location isn't in the city center of Takamatsu but it is easy to reach and near by the beautiful garden.

The hostel is new and clean. The bunk beds in dormitory were comfortable and convenient with enough space for the luggages of everyone. Shower in the female dorm, also very convenient (but a bit narrow for tall western woman like me). The staff is amazing. Very nice and friendly, they made me feel so welcome, thank you so much. The diner was AMAZING : go for it, you won't regret. Fresh and local food cooked by the chef. 200% recommended. Also a great way to meet other guests.

The mattresses are thin and the curtains are not quite sufficient to block out light. Also, the door is a bit loose on its hinges and bangs in the frame when other people open and close their doors or walk heavily past your door. Still, it was pretty quiet at night and I didn’t have much trouble sleeping. The wifi for my room number was terrible, but I was able to get very good signal by using the same password for a different room.

It was affordable and right next to Ritsurin Garden, which I was there to visit. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The complimentary breakfast was excellent and the chef serenaded us with tranquil acoustic music. I didn’t have dinner there, but I assume it would be good based on the quality of the breakfast. It was very good as far as hostels go. I stayed in the twin room alone, but it would have been spacious for two people.

The night time lights off were probably not mentioned to anyone, there was one night, it's already 12midnight and someone was still fixing her luggage with all the sound of the plastic bags from the omiyages.

The female dormitory is very spacious, everyone with luggage was able to arrange their things. The free breakfast is sooooo good specially Udon! Worth every penny. The chef was kind too! and other staff were good, but a little stiff when it comes to foreigners.

The check-in procedure online is a bit annoying, but it's typical for Japan.
