Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ColombiaOne downside is the smell of shoes at the entrance, which was not very pleasant. It is the first thing you notice when you walk in, so this is an area they could definitely improve.
I reserved a private room with two futons — they were comfortable, and the place is very quiet. The showers and toilets are located on the first floor and are shared with other travelers, which should not be an issue if you are used to hostel environments. The hostel is about an 18-minute walk from Sendai Station. However, if you are carrying large luggage, I recommend taking the local train to Itsutsubashi Station — from there, it is only a 5-minute walk. Note that the building does not have an elevator, so be prepared to carry your luggage up the stairs. 7 eleven stores and convenient restaurants close to the premises.

Hong KongJust not the cleanest.
I had a great time at this hostel—it's a fantastic place for meeting people and having fun. The staff are really friendly and do a great job of bringing guests together. I made so many good friends during my stay, which made the experience even better. The location is also great—convenient and not far from the centre of Sendai. I slept well and ended up extending my stay, which says a lot! That said, it’s not the cleanest hostel I’ve ever stayed in. It was okay for me, but if you’re someone who values spotless spaces, it might not be the best fit. Overall though, I had a good experience and would recommend it for the social atmosphere and great vibes.

United StatesBed was pretty comfortable but the curtains for too and bottom bunk are semi shared which makes it a little difficult to keep privacy without affecting the other party. Make sure you are aware of late checkin time. Unable to leave luggage early due to limited front desk hours.

United StatesThere were two Polish ladies volunteering there, so their English skills were great. The house had all kinds of cool stuff to play with and there was lots of room. The one eye house cat stole the show though.

JapanThe bed is a little bed hard is the only thing I didn't like that much.
It was clean, everyone was very friendly. They offer some products to buy, but you have some konbinis and restaurants straight around the corner. They offer a laundry and dryer as well.

JapanI had the upper bed, which had very flat stairs, so it was difficult to get down. I used the wall for balance, so it was managable.
Close to the station (10min walk), very friendly staff, well equipped kitchen, lots of room to sit and relax. Close to several stations. Very quiet at night.

CanadaThe bunk beds moved at the slightest touch, swung around a lot, and made a lot of noise. The bedrooms and the shower room were cramped. Also, although the staff mentioned above was nice, the one that succeeded him was a teenager who didn’t interact with people, always on his phone, and didn’t even try to say a single word in English, letting Google translate do the talking instead of using his own voice. Although, to his credit, he solved a wrong reservation on my part (ordered a female room bed instead of a male one). Maybe it’s just that the other one set the bar really high.
The place was fun and alive, the manager knew the place very well, even had pictures of many stores owners from around the area, one of them is an excellent Izakaya (デデデでん). He was friendly, energetic, and tried really hard to speak English. They also had cats. The place was well maintained and nice and the price was good.

MexicoThe room was cold, the check in is quite late (5 pm) and not sure how the check out works, the staff informed it was up to 10 am, I needed to go at 8:30 am but no one was at the front desk when I went out. I just left my stuff there (because they told me they could store my stuff) and when I returned still no one, I just took my bags and left.
The staff was nice and took the time to explain all the amenities, bed was comfortable. Nearby subway station. They kept my luggage for a while after I checked out
