How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).

The access to the apartment is a bit convoluted and one needs to walk up a staircase which is not at all practical with luggage. There was only one window for the apartment.

There is an emergency light that is full on at might which is way to bright and should be ‘off’ and only turn on in case of emergency. There is only 1 door so it seems way over the top for this bright light during the nighttime hours

The shower cabin was too small. There is no indication of which light belongs to which switch. ight switch. The trash bin was too small. TV was only connected to wifi, and no ordinary TV program was available. There was no central on/off button for the light, so if you forgot to turn off one, it was on till I was back.

Verified reviewWe loved everything about the property! It was so stylish, big and comfy and perfect for our stay in Tokyo. Shimokitazawa is such a fun area, there is cafes, bars, shopping (lots of vintage) and the train line right on your doorstep! You are spoilt for choice. Beds were super comfy, the bathroom configuration was perfect for a group, one end was a toilet with a door and other end was a shower with a door and the huge double sink/bathroom space in the middle. We ate out mostly but the kitchen seemed very well equipped! Would definitely stay again!
Would have loved an iron! We washed some clothes but then couldn’t wear them because they were so creased. Also perhaps a secondary lock inside as the Apt level is accessible by the public (and there is bar/live music venue on weekends on the floor below) just for an added layer of security! In saying that I never felt unsafe and never saw anyone else other than guests on our floor.

The carpet in the living room could be cleaned, otherwise everything was great.

Verified reviewThe space, the atmosphere, the easy check on in and check out. Helpful staff to communicate with. Very charming little suburb to explore.
These may not bother others but were troublesome for all three in our party. Very bright painting at night which illuminated the room and the aircon system/fans are very loud (not the ones you can control) but the ones that run continuously as part of the building. Very strong cigarette smoke. I understood the that these nicotine fumes were coming from the floors below (not illi Com accomodation and guests). It set off my asthma which was hard to manage in this environment and the scent was very obvious at times which made the stay slightly uncomfortable. We done our best to manage this ourselves. Next time we will stay at illi Amu being a newer site should have fewer of these issues.

Verified reviewGreat location, easy checkin, and really well decorated good sized location. A few people have mentioned the shower is small - which is totally true - but I think they did a good job with the space for the bathroom. It allows privacy and has room for someone to get dressed outside the shower while others are using the sink or toilet. The added laundry was a huge plus too. It is ONE machine that takes more than 4 hours to run, so don't try to do a "quick load" - but it was very nice to have since I had been traveling for a few weeks. Additionally, my partner and I are vegan, and there were so many great vegan restaurants nearby AND an organic grocery store open till 10 pm! Huge plus!
My only gripe was with the group people staying above us. It *was* golden week, but it sounded like there were a ton of people up there with different sleeping schedules. They did not respect the quiet hours, and we could hear footsteps, banging, and yelling from our bed. We ended up putting on white noise on our phone most evenings in order to get some rest. I'm all for people having a good time on their vacations, but not till 2 am and starting up again at 6 am. We were there one night after the loud neighbors had left, and the noise level was actually very reasonable - normal street noise, but no yelling or banging. One thing the property might do is add some more rugs or noise dampening on the fifth floor so that the folks staying on the 4th floor can have a little more quiet in the case of loud neighbors like this.

Verified reviewGreat location, close to train station, shops and restaurants. Great atmosphere in the neighbourhood. Property was very clean, spacious and provided plenty of amenities. Verified reviewTravelling with my two adult grandsons so layout of apartment was very good for us. Great area for wandering around and lots of restaurants at a good price. Odakyu Line gave us good connection for exploring anywhere in Tokyo. Great to have an apartment vs hotel rooms.

Verified reviewGreat place located in Setagaya - right in the thick of shops and eateries. Conveniently located within short walk of subway station, with numbers shops and eateries to explore. Short subway ride to Shibuya. Self check-on worked out without problems. Hosts were generally very responsive via email.
There is a cafe/club on floor below so there was some noise in evening, but didn't bother us overall.
