How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewLocation was unbeatable, in a quiet place yet super close to the spectacle of Shibuya and good access to transport. Having a 7-11 next door meant easy breakfast and snack runs. it was spacious by Japanese standards. Comfortable beds and good amenities esp washer. Though put the clothes on drying rack to dry, asian dryers are not great.
We knew this ahead of time but because of the unmanned nature of the hotel, no staff to help with reservations,etc and no luggage storage was a bigger factor than expected. But quick response via email from hotel management and we were allowed late checkout in 1 of our 2 rooms.

Verified reviewThe room was spacious. Very good location close to the shops and there were convience stores nearby and one downstairs. Very quiet. Check in and out is very easy. The staff were kind and very responsive when I had to ask questions.
Shower size is very small but you can still fit just was a little strange considering the bathroom is massive and it could have been bigger due to all the extra space in the room.

I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Service is non-existent. They give better service at 7eleven. Entry is non-inviting and the hotel room is located inside a commercial building. World's smallest elevator. Can't understand washing machine, no instructions and they dont offer any help. Not worth it, stay in a real hotel!

Verified reviewWe loved Illi Mani Shibuya. For our family of four, it was a fantastic first stop for us in Tokyo. It was a very short walk (5mins max) to the madness of Shibuya - the bright lights and scramble crossing and crowds - but it was in a quiet street and so we returned home each night to a peaceful home. It also was on a great street of interesting shops, if you turned right out of the property and walked away from Shibuya's centre. The room itself was really roomy and had a full kitchen. The bathroom managed to fit all 4 of us in it at once occasionally, which is very unusual for Tokyo! The design was very cool and having a washer dryer was helpful too. We loved our pad for the 4 days we were there!
The building itself is pretty underwhelming and the entrance isn't glaringly obviously signposted, but we did find it without much trouble. The carpet was a little tired and had some stains on it, but it didn't bother us at all. And other than that, it was fantastic.
